HVX200 PAL workflow on FCP 5.0.4

Hello all HVX200 users!

In this forum mostly running talk about HVX200 NTSC workflow. How it works in PAL? Is it better to buy NTSC version for film look? I need to make decision: to go for HVX200 or not.
Comments appreciated.

The only format that works in PAL at this time is 1080i50. 720p25 is not supported at this time. This is due to the fact that Europe didn't adopt the 720p HD standard until reecently. But now Apple is working on that codec and says it will be out soon.

Just so no one get's confused:
Both 1080p25 and 1080i50 material works in FCP. They are both recorded in the same 1080i50 codec in the HVX.

differences between 25p and 50i

Is there much of a quality difference between 1080p25 and 1080i50?
Is this just a subjective visual style difference??

I both are recorded in the 1080i50 codec does this mean FCP handles both 25p and 50i in same in post???

Thanks! (I'm learning)

are u refering to the unit itself, or FCP ?? If your stating that the PAL model of the HVX wont do 720p, then id like to see some documentation on this. I'll be over at Panas head office next week and i'd like to bring this up if it is the case, but if ur refering to FCP, then i can understand..

FCP...not the unit. Sorry. The unit shoots 720p25..FCP just can't injest it.
