Is iBook 12 inch 1.33GHz enough for P2 Final Cut workflow?

Is iBook 12 inch 1.33GHz enough for P2 Final Cut workflow?

I'm sure this question has come up before, but I'm after a definitive answer.

Will an Apple iBook 12 inch 1.33GHz with 512MB of RAM be enough for a P2 shooting 720p/25p workflow with Final Cut be enough.

I don't fancy a new MacBook as I've heard nothing but bad things with overheating, spinning/wining fans and heat gel problems.

So, I was thinking of buying one of the last iBooks from Apple Store in the UK before they run out of this now older model.

The short answer is, "no". If you look at the minimum requirements for FCP 5.1 you'll see the iBook does not meet them, nor is using an iBook mentioned in the list of compatible systems.

If you want a laptop editing system the minimum would be a G4 PowerBook with an 867mhz CPU and a minimum of 1GB of RAM. See this link:

I may be incorrect but 720/25P I thought was not yet supported

This is true, but it will be in 10 weeks.

What happens in ten weeks?

Isn't it the Developers Conference when Apple usually anounce all their software releases? I assumed FCP 5.5 or 6 would be out around then with 720p/25p support? Can't imagine Apple delaying this for years; not if they want to stay ahead of the game. Avid are supporting 720p/25p in Xpress Pro in 7 weeks and Apple know this. Dosn't take much working out.

Not to be obtuse, but what "doesn't take much working out?"

I'm aware that there is the developer's conference in August.

But Apple has in the last three years used NAB to announce its proapps video, not the developers conference.
