Suggestions wanted for best FCP export for PC use

I'm starting to need to deliver footage to clients editing on assorted, non-MXF-capable software on the PC platform. My initial test with providing the rewrapped .mov file from the FCP ingest isn't yielding any success so far... I can't even get Quicktime Player for xp or 2000 to play it... or After Effects to load it.

Does anyone have suggestions for the best FCP export settings to provide maximum PC compatibility, while preserving image quality? I'm going to end up running this job through a PC Avid, but I can't keep doing that forever...

Try export using QT conversion to an uncompressed .dv file format. There are PC programs that will take MOV files and translate them to AVI.

If you are going to edit on PC AVID, go to AVID's website. They have free codec downloads to allow reading MOV files. I know this works cause I have supplied footage cut in FCP to a local tv station where they use AVID Newscutter. They couldn't read the file until I directed them to install the codec package. Apparently it worked because they aired the video.

Greg is right, you can get the Avid codecs. Or try exporting photojpeg.mov at 95%. This is how most stock footage is delvered.

thanks, guys. I hadn't run across anything on Avid's site about the codecs yet. I'll be delivering to a Premiere Pro/AE guy, but I use a PC-based Adrenaline on a daily basis, and it didn't import the FCP .mov file tonight when I tried it.

Thanks, all.
Uncompressed 8-bit Quicktimes ended up being the winning format for this particular client (Premiere Pro on xp). His system didn't accept a .dv, and we didn't get around to trying other formats before finding that the QTs would work.

Then there was the nightmare of getting it from my MacBook Pro to his external NTFS drive (which had other stuff, and couldn't be reformatted.)

But THAT's another story...

Flip4Mac, give him WMV 9 HD files as clean as any.
