How on earth do you reformat the P2 Store?

Hi all. . .

I have done the following to reformat my P2 Store:

1. Stuck a paper clip into the HDD hole.

2. The lights flash.

3. I push the start button with the lights are flashing.

4. Lights stop (too fast, in my opinion, and the HD light doesn't blink as if it is doing anything).

I THOUGHT that this was how one reformats the P2 Store. YET, when I attach it back to my MacBook Pro, the P2 Store STILL SHOWS THE FILES ON THE STORE!

That shouldn't happen.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm completely oblivious.

Thanks so much.

Stephen

I use P2 Store Manager to clear the drive.

That would be nice. . .

But P2 Store Manager doesn't work with the new MacBook Pro.

Any other ideas???

Ah, that sucks.

Get a cheapo PC.

the trick is, you need to let go of the paper clip (you have exactly 2 seconds to do this) before pressing the start button, otherwise it wont reformat.
you can feel the drive spinning when it's working.
I guess it's a way to avoid reformating by mistake.
good luck

Now the response is helpful.

As it happens, Eric gave me exactly the tip I needed. I had been pushing the paper clip into the hole AND, while pushing the paper clip, hitting the start button. As he notes, one must FIRST put the clip in the hole, THEN RELEASE the clip, and THEN PUSH START (within two seconds).

And, when following these directions, it works perfectly.

Thanks again!

Stephen
