HVX200 to PAL questions.
 

Hello HVX-ers,
I just got a gig for a french TV station (PAL),the budget is pretty small so I'd like to use my HVX200 instead of renting a PAL camera.
the final product needs to be in SD PAL and will be broadcast, my question is:what would be the best recording format to select to then do a transfer to PAL?
480i 24p/pn or shooting 720p 24p/pn or shooting 30p.
anyone done successful PAL transfer from HVX200 footage?

for dvd, shooting 24p wont give you an issue as delivery is on DVD, and the DVDs we make are region free.

The dvd player however must be set to auto, so it can pick u the appropriate frame rate.

Ive never had an issue with my work being played across the globe be it NTSC source or Pal source (im in Pal land)

the problem is that it's going to be broadcast on french television and I have to deliver a 25fps clip.

Eric,

Just try a test with Cinema Tools....
Shoot 24pN, duplicate that clip.
Load into cinema tools and conform to 25 fps.

Then FTP that test to your client and see if that
will work. Sometimes I have had better luck
if I take the conformed 25p clip into FCP
and output as 1080 25p in 1080 50i sequence.

I totally forgot about cinema tools.. :)
I did some test with compressor today and wasn't to happy with the results.
I'll try your suggestions.

I followed your advice and did a test w Cinema Tools and then export from FCP.
