What an assumption based on nothing. Live View has always been an AUTO function! It needs to be to deliver the best view during preview. All these companies have simply hacked a connection into the Live View signal.

To get past this you need to design a camera from scratch as Panasonic did.

Anyone know if you can adapt a K mount lens on a GH1 without the K lenses' aperture lever getting in anything's way?

That's a question probably best asked in the Panasonic LUMIX GH1 subforum, Gary.
That's where the other folks trying to bolt things on to that camera are.
