Battery Powered & Portable Camera Light Suggestions?

My HV-20 will be arriving in a few days. I REALLY want to take it with my Sennheiser shotgun and a portable light and film some of downtown LA at night.

Any suggestions on a light to use? I don't want it to be hotshoe mounted b/c I dislike the lack of shadows w/ full frontal lighting, and l'd like to experiment w/ shadow and light on the subject.

Thanks MUCH!

P.S. Cheap is good :) ;).

If you look I think you'll see that various mounting schemes can be used with adapters and brackets on pretty much any light. I chose a Frezzi microfill with a dimmer and am very pleased. It is made in the USA, rugged and has accessories for connecting to any of the various battery connector types, Dichroic filter, softbox and barn doors.

I'd suggest picking the light and connector you want and then decide on a battery. I found a Bescor battery that mounts nicely on the accessory plate of the XL1s. I wish it had a gauge for how much charge is lremaining. Your mileage may vary.
