Quick Q: will "color corrected" flours. still need minusgreen?

Title pretty much says it all. Will a 5500K corrected flourescent still need a minusgreen filter or does the "color corrected" bit imply that I won't?

5500k is daylight white. No filter needed for "white" light. If you use it in combination with tungsten lights you'll need to gel the flo yellow or the tungsten lights blue (CTB) just like you would to match daylight.

It will if its CRI is lower than about 80 or so. It's entirely possible to find a low CRI 5500K bulb but usually ones targeted for this color temp are a higher CRI so it's most likely it won't be a problem for you. White balancing and not mixing color temps as the previous poster mentioned helps immensely though.

Yeah, it's all about the CRI (color rendering index) of the bulb.

If it's color corrected you won't need any minus green but it may not reproduce color as well as a professional fluorescent tube that has a high CRI. What's the rating on the bulbs you have? Anything above 80 should do you just fine...most commercial grade are around 50 and colors just look miserable.
