Shutter speed in 28 weeks later

Hello, I read in some post something about changing the shutter speed to obtain certain effects. Well, some people say that is better not to touch that parameter... I am a little lost, but I'm trying to achieve the effect of the film 28 weeks later. When zombies attack, everything seems to happen fast, but there is little or no blur in camera movements... I don't know how to get that. Any help?

Most cameras will allow you to shorten the shutter speed from the (PAL) default 1/50th sec down to 1/10000 sec. You don't need to go that far for the effect you're after, but try 1/350th - something like that.

You'll need more light or wider apertures, and if you have a CCD camera you'll get more CCD smear the shorter the shutter speed you use, so beware. Band of Brothers, Private Ryan, Minority report (you can see it's a Spielberg thing) all used this to good effect.

tom.
