Lens Shade Flare helper
 

I saw this here once, but can't seem to find it anymore. Its a double-clip that attaches to the lens hood, and holds a flag. Sort of a cheap DIY French-Flag kit (minus the flag). The clips are black "bulldog" style clips attached with a short wire armature. Any help would be appreciated.

I just use CineFoil, works like a charm.

I have seen FF clips/arms at FilmTools and Mole Town where there is a clip on either end with a flex arm, but no flag, you just use Cinefoil, Coreplast or show card.

I'm hoping for something more elegant than cinefoil. I have it, but it looks ghetto. I'd rather not add the weight of a full matte box, so a flag&clip would be perfect (and can be removed quickly for stowage.

You can get a clamp-on French flag pretty cheaply:

Or if you want a very lightweight simple mattebox to hold 2 filters but without the rails, Lee Filters has the wide angle lens hood with 2 filter slots:

In addition you need the threaded adapter. I have one and it weighs just under half a pound. It's wide enough so even with the bellows extended all the way you don't get any corner vignetting. I used a French flag for years and only got the matte box when I got an XH A1 and needed to start buying new filters. There are some French flags that have a hole 1/4" screw with wing nut, if you have a camera with the 1/4" receptacle on top of the camera.

That "clip" is a common business type, and usually found in any Business Supply store in many sizes.

I've made up one of those flexabile flag holders using a clamp (as in Oren's pic) to hold the flag, a flexable magnet tool (sans the magnet), and either a Hot Shoe attachment or another clamp type - for Cam or T-Pod attachment.

You can also attach a flag to your Hood using a Velcro strip.

You can also just make a longer Lens Hood.

Just some ideas that I've done, and used. Cheap & easy to do.

Nino you're the man of the hour! That's exactly what I was thinking of....now for the $20 question, where do you purchase them (and what is their proper name). Thanks a bunch to all who responded.

I'll try to find out who makes them, I was sure it was Bogen but I can't find them on their web site. Maybe they are discontinued. I'm sure I still have some new ones I have to dig them out. I'll let you know.
