Speaking of dimmers ....

This may seem like a stupid question but I have a JTL softbox kit and yesterday was wondering if I could use a standard light dimmer from Home Depot and put it on a power cord to use with one of my softbox lights.

Would that work? If I turned the dimmer low, would it be bad for the lights?

I made a very nice dual dimmer for my Lowells. It worked great, and caused no noticable harm to the lamps.

Dim and Dimmer

As long as the wattage spec of the dimmer is ok for the light you are using dimming the light should pose no problems..

By dimming the light you will lower the color temp and make the light warmer
Do your white balance after dimming.
Some dimmers can cause problems with sound when using sensitive mikes.
