2. Is the housing plastic or metal?
3. How does output factor against the LP Micro and the new Prompter People Microbeam that has 144 LEDs?

Neither Litepanels site nor the press release I received yesterday provide any more specifics. Seems to be the same plastic housing as the original Micro. Anxious to get a look at it on Monday as well as to compare it to the Prompter People offering. I do like my original Micro but nothing compares to the Zylight Z90.

Here is some more information.

1. 96 LED's 8x12
2. Yes, the housing is plastic like the standard Micro, yet sturdier. The key in keeping it light and ideal for use with camera stabilizers. Camera-ball is metal unlike Micro.
3. Output is at least double, approx. Wattage equiv. is 55W

Photometrics:

2 ft/0.6M - Footcandles is 100 and LUX is 1100
4 ft/1.2M - Footcandles is 52 and LUX is 560
6 ft/1.8M - Footcandles is 28 and LUX is 300

A correction on the camera-ball: It is not all metal, there are plastic parts but way better than the one that comes with the regular LP Micro.

Double the blinding power!

No seriously though, I thought the original micro did a great job in adding just enough light when I needed it during a few weeks of nighttime doc shoots. It would be nice to have a wider spread of light with the new unit though, shame I just bought mine in February.

The lithium batteries are well worth it - I'm pretty sure it's been more than 7 hours so far...

Seems capable of a lot of light. The MicroBeam 128 is rated at 185 LUX at six feet and it has more LED's. The use of AA batteries is commendable, keeps the weight lower. The spread problem of the standard Micro forced me to buy the MicroBeam, good to see they listened.

How do you like your Microbeam so far? Is it hard to get it to an acceptable 3200k with the provided filters? I currently use the sony 10/20's but was looking for something that puts out a little more light for a longer period of time.

I have not used it at an event yet. It is plenty birght and has a decent spread. I am going to drop by a photo supply store and get CTO's somewhere in-between the supplied ones which look to me to be CTO 1/4 and CTO full.

I know this may be a difficult question to answr but but how much light do the new litepanels put out compared to a lowel i-light at 55 watts?

Anyone know which cable it would take to attach the Micro Pro to an A/B battery (PowerTap)
