Best of luck with your recovery Richard.

Richard Alvarez April 9th, 2005 09:43 PM

Rest, think good thoughts and get well soon.

Mel Williams April 10th, 2005 03:19 PM

sorry to hear about your accident.

I'm glad you're okay.

My sister-in-law just got a motocycle last week. We think she's crazy to get one in LA.

She can't even drive a manual car and she goes out and buys a 650 Ducati. She's all proud that she's completely "black" (black pants, jacket and helmet).

Chris Hurd April 10th, 2005 09:10 PM

Holy Cow, Richard, I'm just glad it wasn't any worse than that. Could have been a lot worse! Will be sending you an email re: some stuff we've been talking about. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery,

Matt Gettemeier April 11th, 2005 05:35 AM

I grew up in a family where motorcycling was a part of life. Two older brothers raced supercross professionally and we've ALL had a crap-load of street bikes and dirt bikes... including my sister. There are only TWO types of motorcycle riders... those that have crashed... and those that will. It's inevitable. 100% guaranteed.

I crashed my R1 (my fourth crotch-rocket) within 6 months of getting it.

Crashing sucks. Pain sucks... but motorcycles will always be cool because of this very circumstance... even the slowest bike 'aint your grandma's Volvo. It takes a different kind of person to accept the risk and ride a bike.

You just went up a couple notches on my respect scale Richard... sorry about the crash... may you heal fully and quickly.

Bill Ravens April 11th, 2005 08:00 AM

I used to race motocross on a YZ465. In it's day, it was one helluva ride. Did my knee several times...most painful thing, next to a divorce, anyway.

Curiously, in those moments when you realize there's a sudden stop at the end of the journey thru the air you're taking, time goes into freeze frame slo-mo. A series of kodak instant moments until the final bang.

Recover, climb back on the dragon.

Richard Veil April 11th, 2005 08:34 AM

<<<-- mercury in retro another week... -->>>

Are you also an astronomy fan? And you've noticed that as we approach the vernal equinox that our proximity to the sun is creating the illusion of retrograde motion in the planet Mercury?

Okay forgive me I'm dumb... what does "mercury in retro another week..." mean?

Richard Veil April 11th, 2005 08:52 AM

OUCH! Sorry to hear of your spill Richard, get well quick!

It does make me laugh to hear someone other than my mom talk about "Mercury in retrograde". It must be more of a California thing, growing up there I am use to people saying things like that. :) in fact, I'll surround you in white light Richard! *grin*

Andrew Petrie April 14th, 2005 09:22 AM

Sounds bad, but I'm sure you'll recover! While you're getting better, you could make a little documentary on your recovery.

Richard Veil April 14th, 2005 10:12 AM

any relation to george s patton?
