VL-10 Diffusion? How 'bout GLAD PRESS N' SEAL?

Has anyone come up with a VL-10 Diffusion system or something manufactured specifically for the vl-10? Is there a Soft-Box that would fit on it?

So far I have had to be creative...I have used (and It seems to work) GLAD PRESS N' SEAL.

I know it sounds odd but it sticks and I can just layer it on top of each other; the only thing is Id really like to have something that "looks" better, if you know what I mean, and perhaps a softer diffusion.

Thanks!

Take any 12" x 12" piece of diffusion, cut into 4 equal size squares, tape it to the light. No need to spend much cash.

You can't afford to lose much output from a 10 watt light. Go with a light diffusion - light frost, light spun, etc. Also remember the diffusion will reduce the harshness of the light, but given its small size the light won't get much softer. Soft light is created by larger sources; umbrella, softbox, foamcore, diffusion panels, etc.

How about a Bounce dryer sheet and a rubberband. I had a dryer that bake our clothes instead of just drying them and the dryer sheets never caught fire. Plus you might get that April fresh smell!

OH..man and I thought mine was bad

Thats funny; I thought the Glad plastic wrap was bad...
Although I thought about it and heck, it might work too! :)

i cut a large piece of plastic off of a gallon-size poland spring water bottle, cut it down to size and taped the sides to the light's enclosure. not only do i get acceptable diffusion on the light, i don't blind my subjects either.

as an aside, my real issue with this light is that you can hear the battery rattle when performing whip pans or just rapidly moving the camera. had to tape that down too.

the light's not looking too pretty these days, but it gets the job done ;)

I'd like to see that; can you post a photo?

)))

And yes I have noticed the battery problem, it sucks...was thinking about cutting some velcro and putting it on the inside of the light where the battery goes as to tighten things up a bit when the battery drops in. ?

hey michael,

here are some pics i just took... sorry they're a little blurry.

the front view shows the makeshift diffusion filter made from the poland spring water bottle. it's taped down on both sides with regular masking tape. right now i have one "filter" taped down. in case i might need more diffusion, i made a couple more :)

the other views show how i taped the battery down. i don't have my battery rattling around anymore.

as you can see, nothing special, but it gets the job done for me.

also, i'm thinking the velcro probably wouldn't be a great idea because swapping batteries (to and from the flash, or between flash and camera) could become a real pain...

Cool, Thanks...that looks as though it works, and It looks good and cheap!

I'll give it a shot!!!
