Lighting and Voltage Question
 

I'm using the Bescor 50 Watt light with a AC plug. I would like to use a AC/DC Converter so I can plug into a wall instead of using batteries. The one I bought doesn't give enough power. You can hear a "winding up" noise when I turn on the light.

What do I need.

The specs of the light are
Lamp Type 50 Watt, 12 VDC BRL
Mount Type Universal Shoe Mount
Power Source 12 VDC
Power Consumption 50 Watts
Power Connector Cigarette Plug DC Adapter


The AC/DC adapter I bought is:


* Power Socket will safely convert power from an AC outlet to DC power, up to 1-Amp (1000mA)
* Leave AC Adapters at home while traveling
* 12-Volt / 1-Amp direct plug-in power supply with built in cigarette lighter power output
* Safety features include UL approved, cool touch thermo plastic case and thermal cut-off protection
* Slim profile features compact and lightweight design with folding AC blades




Would any of these work?

I have an old Bescor that I use anything from a 20W to a 75W bulb in using battery power and I use a 100W bulb for AC power. I simply remove the cigadaptor plug and there's the AC plug. Plug into any 110/120V AC socket flip the switch and go. unless your light is different than any Bescors I've seen you don't need any kind of adaptor/converter but you DO need to replace the bulb with one that runs off of AC power. Looks the sameas the DC power bulb but the filament is different. I think most of them are 100W.
BTW, I get my bulbs at the local home improvement store.

I might be wrong, but if I remember correctly from high school, divide your wattage by your volts and you
will get your amps?
So it comes to 4.5.
Maybe use 5amp. Should be more than enough.

A 5 amp supply should suffice.

My bescor doesn't have AC on the end.

So if I get a 5amp adapter than do I still need to get the light bulbs that Don is talking about?

So your Bescor doesn't have a removable cig adaptor? Every Bescor light that I have ever seen that have a cig adaptor, it is removable revealing a standard AC plug.

OK then, my apologys. I don't get to the Bescor site often or even look at lighting kits anymore and I didn't realize they had come out with a non -removable cig plug. I thought ALL of the lights with cig plugs were removable.
