Holding a reflector with a CStand
 

I am looking at getting a CStand and found the Avenger A225SCBKIT http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...goryNavigation on BHPHoto. The kit has the CStand, riser, grip head, and arm.

However one of the applications I want to use it for is to hold a 5-in-1 disc reflector that I will be purchasing soon. What kind of clamps do I need to get for the arm??

I did notice that you can buy arms with clips on http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...goryNavigation but surely I can just buy the clamps and put on the arm?

I have a couple of the Flexfill Holders. They work great, and easily attach to any light stand.

You'd be fine with that C-stand kit. You can just clamp the reflector in the grip head attached to the grip arm. You don't need any other holders if you have the C-stand with a grip head plus a grip arm.

I do it all the time using these...http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS...gmj.0&MID=9876. They're cheap too!

What I use is a Westcott reflector arm, which I found at a local photo supply store for under fifty dollars. It is adjustable to fit many shapes and sizes of reflectors. Gets the job done for me, anyways.

A little cheaper and completely bulletproof. I've owned one for over a year now and it's built like a tank. Unfortunately it's almost as heavy...but still nice. If interested check Ebay as they sell cheaper through there.

I'd second the Amvona C stand /w grip arm, it's a lot of metal for the money. I bought the x-large model for a little over $30 off ebay a while back. I don't see how that guy makes any money on some of his auctions.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. But everything I've bought from them (always through Ebay) has not let me down once including softboxes, tripods, lightstands. etc... very sturdy stuff for dirt cheap.

Amvona vs. JTL/Photoflex/Chimera?
 

Can anyone compare the Amvona soft boxes with JTL, Photoflex, Chimera? I'm sure that they're not Chimeras, but if would be great to know how the compare.

Maybe he nails it to the side of a timber building... I just don't see them as being cheap :)

I can't comment on the other brands, Shawn. Just that the Amvona gear has never given me a lick of trouble. Others may have had different experiences.
Plus, off of Ebay I got a set of two for just over $100.00 plus $35.00 for shipping.
That was nearly a year ago and they still operate without problem.

I use the Matthews Polito Bracket for reflectors or foamcore. It never fails and will last forever.

What I really meant to link to -- and through no help of Home Depot's web team -- are the small spring clips that I use to hold the reflector to the gobo or grip arm. Here's another link, but act fast! I don't know how long it will last ;-p
