Light meter

I sold my Minolta AutoMeter IIIF decades ago after realizing that my camera had a better reflected light meter. But now that I'm getting into placing lights, I'm thinking an incident light meter would be useful. I'm looking for something simple and quick to use, and relatively inexpensive.

The Sekonic L-398 looks like the standard, and I really like the idea of not needing a battery, but I'm concerned that the EV4 lower range might be limiting now that digital cameras can shoot under low light.

I'm curious if anything important has happened in light meters in the 20 years since I've last looked. Something analog sounds good for my purposes of comparing relative levels of incident light.
