diffusion paper

I picked up some diffusing paper for a corporate shoot I did yesterday to soften up my fresnels. It worked fantasticaly well.
I'd like to buy more, but not for $3 sq/ft. Does anyone know where I can buy it online in maybe a little larger quantity, and cheaper?

Try Studio Depot . As a division of Mole-Richardson they have a remarkable array of gels and lighting accessories. I've purchased many items from them.

BTW, their site's certificate is screwed-up (probably haven't renewed it) and you'll get a nastyrgam to that effect when you enter.

Thanks Ken!

Dylan,

I've been using oven proof baking paper for years and it works beautifully. All that and more for just $1.99/100m

And if the shoot doesn't work out you can just bake muffins!

Adrian,

What color is this oven proof baking paper? Cause the only ones
I can remember are "brown" which might introduce a color shift
you don't want?

Thanks!

Adrian Douglas January 16th, 2003 06:58 AM

Rob,

the paper is a neutral white colour the same as the expensive diffusion paper. It dosen't change the colour of the light at all.

Dylan:

With the amount of film work going on in Vancouver, I sort of picture that the streets must be knee-deep with used diffusion and gel from all those crews passing through...!

Seriously though, if you have the inclination, it may be worth asking around at the local lighting and grip houses to see if they have any remnants, such as a mostly-used roll. What they consider scrap may well cover all your lights.
