IDX X-3 lite

Sometimes you just stumble on to things for a different reason. WHile looking at the likes of the PAG light (which is a great light) l was very concerend about the power or lack of it. At best, perhaps and hour or less. WHile visiting a production store, l bumped into a friend which convinced me to look at and then buy the IDX X-3 lite. www.idxtek.com and have never looked back. Basically, a 5600k lite which consists of three L.E.D's and runs at 11watts 1amp. I went to an electronics store and bought a 12volt 20amp battery in a nice case with the right connector and presto, l have almost 20hours of power to equivilent of a 35 watt globe. Also, it is fully dimmable(if thats a word...lol) from 0 to 100 percent, you get 5600k...but wait, there's more, there is barn doors and extension cables etc. The light is not cheap in comparison to some but you do pay for what you get and you do get. The battery was about 30 australian dollars and case and super charger which takes about 3 to 4 hours was another 30 dollars, so not to bad l think. Do yourself a favour and never have to worry about power as such and buy this lite, it's that good. regards Michael

Did l mention it was.......!!!!

For those wondering what all the fuss is about, l failed to mention in my post ( due to the excitment of my light...!) that it is in fact an on camera light so l do appologise for that.

Read on.....!!!

Just for the record ( and any one would think l work for the company...) l did a shoot and the light was amazing. In fact with the sealed lead free battery l bought from an electronics shop, it was still going strong after 12 hours. The battery was a 12volt 7.2v and the fact that l could dim it and still have pure 5600k temp was astounding. It is very much a professional light and one used by many camera operators in ENG and general professional operators. At one stage, l had dimmed the light just so as to light up a face and it looked amazing. The fact it doesn't produce any heat makes it a bonus. The barn doors are an optional extra and highly recommended. They come with Tungsten gels and a diffuser as well. The barn doors itself is very robust and fits securely on the light itself. Don't waste any time with other light systems for on camera light. Need l say more.........and l won't...lol
Ciao Michael
