Frezzi Mini-Fill power question
 

Hi everyone,

Let me first say that I don't have a clue about all the numbers and techincal stuff associated with electrical components.

That said, here is my question: I have a Frezzi Mini-Fill light (light bulb says: EXN 50w 12V) and I am wondering if there is any way to adapt the light so that I can plug it into a regular wall socket here in the United States?

Currently the light is not used because I don't have a way to power it and I really don't want to buy any portable batteries for the light.

I am betting the answer is no, but I thought I would ask to see if it can be done.

No you have a 50 watt, 12 volt lamp. Household power is 120 volt. I think that there are MR-16 bulbs that are 120V, but I don't know what they are. Look in the instructions, there may be a table of different lamps. EXN refers to the ANSI code for that lamp. That way you can find the same lamp made by a different manufaturer. Any EXN lamp, by any manufacturer, will be 50w and 12V and be an MR-16 type of bulb. Thay also have different beam angles, so some may be spot, or flood, or something in between. EXN is a 40 degree beam.

Most of these lights are made to run off a battery, so the connector may be a cigarette lighter, Anton Bauer power Tap, or four pin XLR conector. You'll want to be careful, because you don't want to accidentally plug something into the wall that's 12v and then fry it. That's why you may be better off sticking with battery power.
