Re: Manfrotto 3021 Tripod w/ 3063 Head $115

Jim,

A couple of questions. How tall is this tripod with all leg sections extended but without the central column?

How would you rate the pan/tilt smoothness (for video) compared to say a Manfrotto 503 head?

Thanks,

Re: Manfrotto 3021 Tripod w/ 3063 Head $115

Hi Ervin,

- It is 5 feet from the floor to the top of the head/camera plate with all leg sections extended but without the central column.

-I have a Manfrotto 501 head, and I think that it is comparable to that in terms of pan/tilt smoothness. There are no pan/tilt drag adjustments on the 3063 like on the 501, just pan/tilt locks. I would say that the pan tilt smoothness is comparable to a midpoint pan/tilt drag setting on the 501, which for me is perfect. But If you prefer adjustable pan/tilt drag, then you need to look at a more expensive head.

I have used this setup for years as both a backup and as a main tripod/head setup, with everything from full sized shoulder mount to compact handycams, and it has served me well. Hope this helps.

Jim

Re: Lowel DV Creator 1 Kit plus extras

If you've only used the hard-case Lowel kits, you'll really like the soft-case, at least I did. So much nicer for typical use in and out of cars and rooms...

Steadicam Merlin v1 - used but brand new

I have some extra pieces of equipment I am trying to get rid of at the moment. Currently it is located in Montreal but will meet up around the area and will ship CONUS no problem.

Its a Steadicam Merlin v1 - used but basically brand new. No big scratches, scuffs, anything. If you want more detailed photos just post here and Ill post pics up asap. It genuinely is in really good condition.

New the v2s go for $799 on BHPhoto, but this is used, and a v1, so $350?
