My recent readings

Hello,
I recently finished reading "Power Screenwriting" by Michael Chase Walker. It was a good read, references a lot of movies as clear examples for different story structures. Explains things that a novice can easily pick up on. Can get it or look at it more here

I picked up "Screenwriter's Bible" earlier this week and haven't been able to put it down. Great book, gives concrete examples and good exercises. But doesn't give you too much to where you can't think for yourself and put 2 and 2 together. Can grab this here

The last book I have mixed feelings on, "Art and Visual Perception-a Psychology of the Creative Eye", by Rudolf Arnheim. The book is packed with information, but man I found my manual for my AM/FM alarm clock more exciting. Anyone else read this book and feel that way? You can get it here.

I've read the Screenwriter's Bible, and I did find it really worthwhile. It's focus is on the reality of marketability, while still not violating the principles of writing as art. Good balance, I'd say.

Plus in a couple of the pages it has the best synopsis I've ever read about how to keep the creativity flowing, how to avoid the dreaded block, etc. Included tips that span wider than just with writing - applies to creativity of any type.

Very good buy, the Screenwriter's Bible.

I'm also reading another one right now that is excellent. Can't remember the name as I'm not home right now, but I will post its name when I get home.
