Need for remote?

I had a Bebob Zoe for my pd170 and loved it. Pan, tilt, zoom, spot focus, stop-start all in the same place. Great!

So I bought one for my HMC150. And, not only have I not used it, I've taken the handle off the head and just pan with the camera.

Oddly, I think the manual zoom switch reduces the need for the remote. I can slam the zoom to where I need it much quicker than using the cam zoom control or the Zoe. And then when I want a smooth zoom, doing it from the camera w/o the head handle seems to work well.

Anybody else have similar tales? Moving from a prosumer to a low-end professional? Curious what others think.
