Building my own LANC remote

Im in the process of building my own underwater housing for my XM2 (european version of GL2).

To control the camera I built a little LANC remote based on some other sites that I found on the web. The thing works, but it could definetly be improved.

Complete plans and info can be found at http://www.area69.com/lanc/

If anybody knows assembler and PIC programming and wants to help out, please email me!

Do you have the plans or progress photos of the underwater housing? I would be very interested in seeing those.

Viktor Carlquist June 16th, 2004 01:19 PM

Im hunting parts at the moment. Ill post progress if there is any... :-)

That is so cool! Thank you!

But why do you need "assembler and PIC programming" I understood (from your site) you figured that out?!

underwater housing

here is a great site for a do it yourself underwater housing http://www.wakeworld.com/articles/2003/housing.asp I built mine with a few modifications and a Ikelite waterproof button($32) for around $ 75 works awesome too

LANC Controller

Hello,

I would like to build my own LANC Controller. However when I go to http://www.area69.com/lanc/ nothing exist anymore.

Would it be possible for me to get more information about this ?

Regards !

DIY Lanc

I have recently finished my own diy lanc based in large part on your design. One problem I am running into is the photo command. I am using a Sony HDR-SR12. When I input photo, the camera only prepares to take the picture, as if I had pressed the photo button halfway down. The photo write command does nothing at all. Does anyone have a suggestion on a hex or binary lanc command to use for a one button press photo capture. The command I am using that does not work is byte 0= 18h byte 1= 39h.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Billy,

This was an old project for me and I never tried the photo functions since my camera at the time didn´t take very good stills.
Have you checked this page The SONY LANC protocol
Maybe command 2B (photo write) will work?

There is also a "Photo save" code, but im not sure if that is for when the camera is in video mode.
