LANC remote issue

Hello

Please advise or point me to the thread:
I purchased a zoom controller

http://www.signvideo.com/zoom-commander-digital-zoom-controller_II_pro.htm

that should be connected through LANC. I couln't make it work. Before buying it I was assured by the vendor that it works with PDX 10. Before this one I purchased six months ago another one, a cheaper one which didn't work either. I thought that it was due to the poor quality of the item.

I couldn't find in the camera menu anything about setting up the LANC, neither in the manual.

Thank you in advance,

Raul

Hi Paul,

I bought a Lanc controller for my PD-100 from sign video as well.

I pleased to say that mine works fine.

My advice, find a friend with a “consumer” Sony video cam and try it in theirs or go to your local Sony dealer and try it in one of their Camera’s.

I should work in any Sony cam with a LANC.

If it works in the other cameras you may have a loose connection. (Hopefully an easy fix).

If it doesn’t work contact Sign Video. I’m sure they’ll replace it.

Once you use a Lanc controller on a tripod or boom youreally appreciate the investment.

Cheers

I don't think there are any menus that need configuring with LANC, it should work right out of the box. No experience with this controller, but my Varizoom Pro-L has always worked perfectly on my PDX10. I agree with Chris, find another camera to try it on.

I know this is a dumb question, but you are sure that you've plugged it into the correct jack, right? I don't think the PDX-10 requires any special "flavor" of LANC. Hopefully it's a defect in your controller and not your camera.

Thanks Chris, thanks Boyd

It is actually the camera that has the problem. I tested the zoom controller on another PDX 10 and works fine. This is a factory defect, LANC was never used before.

Thank you again

Does this unit have progressive zoom rates? That is, are the zoom buttons pressure sensetive?

I am looking for a small zoom controller that is progressive.

No, they are not touch-sensitive like the zoom button on the PDX-10; the controller that I bought has variable speeds. Have a look:

Thatnks for the reply. Yep. Took a look at it. Looks interesting but I may go for the VariZoom LX. It has a sort of rocker on it that is variable as well as some nice extra controlls.

I have to get something with a smooth takeoff and variable rate.
