Re: EOS R vs RP DPAF and 1.7 crop?

The one thing I'd add is that while I'm not crazy about the 4K crop, or the relatively poor dynamic range of the first two cameras, I do love the color science.

Far more then that, the new lenses...

Re: Is the JVC LS300 still a competitive camera today?

Always been interested in this camera....

But the GH5 just has too many features (not to mention cheaper price tag).

Still, if you need to have a ENG-ish form factor, it's a heck of a deal.

Re: Cheapest dual IS lens for the GH5?

I dream of the Oly 12-40mmm....

Only reason I haven'g gotten it is a) it's a little slow and b) I'm not sure how well it'll stabilize handheld w/ the GH5.

For some reason, there's not a lot of...

Re: Vegas Pro 15 Update 1 (Build 216) released!

Having worked with it a bit more, I'm a bit happier with it. You can get it very close to older versions and some of the changes (like the track expand/contract) buttons look/work nicely.

I'm...

Re: Cheapest dual IS lens for the GH5?

Robert, I feel ya, but a couple of things....

One, those gimbals are very pricey (at least in my world). I've shot five features and the grand total of time I needed stedi-cam smooth is probably...

Re: Vegas Pro 15 Update 1 (Build 216) released!

Well, I'm not sure why they couldn't have a "legacy" button to click on. The interface is exactly why I have stayed with Vegas as opposed to going over to Premiere - so to change it IS a rather big...

Re: Vegas Pro 15 Update 1 (Build 216) released!

Just bought it.

My biggest single beef is that I want it to look like the older versions. I presume that 90% (or more) buyers of 15 are legacy users.... who crazily enough might want it to look...

Cheapest dual IS lens for the GH5?

From what I can tell, the older 12-60mm has dual 2.0 stabilization and is the cheapest way to
get that creamy smooth stabilization.

Anyone have any real world experience with this lens and the...

Re: That Full Frame Look is so much better than MFT....

Well, I agree you can make a "cinematic" film with MFT.... But the test has two kinda giant flaws - one, using that metabones effectively alters the size of the sensor (x .64), not to mention that...

LS300 vs GH5

Currently using the Sony A6300. While it remains a beast in low light, it's an incredibly clumsy camera to use (at least for me). Very un-intuitive. After months of using it, I still can't really...

Re: Panasonic GH5 firmware requests

Yeah, a great upgrade - even more so when you consider the EVA1 is coming down the pipe. Panasonic looks very keen on regaining the indie film maker market.

I have a Sony A6300, which I may hang...

Re: Just bought a FZ80 - any tips?

Thanks Chris!

Had the camera now for about a month.... fascinating camera in some ways. It does far better in low light then I thought was possible for such a small chip.

It's a very nice...

Just bought a FZ80 - any tips?

Just ordered a used Panasonic FZ80 based on specs/youtube footage/price and other features. It's my first Panasonic of any kind....

If any one's used this camera (or event the FZ70) and has any...

Is there a comprehensive list that has all the current things this gizmo can do (assuming the latest firmware has been uploaded to the camera)?

I'm basically deciding between the LS300 and the...

Re: Horrible Day W/ The LS300

Good thread.... couple of questions:

1. How would the log users grade it? Earlier reviews of the camera/log weren't very favorable.

2. A possible answer are monitors that show you what the...

Re: New Canon Cinema EOS C200 and 200B

"Kai's clueless..."

Maybe.... but you gotta admit, he's a spiffy dresser!

Glad to know the screen can flip - it would have been nuts if it didn't.

Re: New Canon Cinema EOS C200 and 200B

Hey Dan, you gotta link? 'Cause the footage w/ Kai makes it pretty clear that even if the screen could flip (which it didn't look like it could do), it'd still be prevented from doing so by that...

Re: New Canon Cinema EOS C200 and 200B

Bit of an odd camera. Looks to only record non-RAW files in 8 bit 4:2:0..... which will be a huge turnoff to lots of potential buyers. It will have its niche I'm sure, but this rather limited...

so far, no. Maybe Panasonic in a week....

Still...

re: Hit and run in the JVC booth at NAB

Huh. Well, I guess you can take that two ways - one, there will be upgrades but he can't let it out of the bag, or....

JVC's done with the upgrades and doesn't want anyone to know it.

Smart...
