Re: RX100IV heat observations

Just wanted to add that I used the camera to record long form 4k fixed on a tripod tethered to an atomos shogun. I'm happy to report that in this configuration there's no overheating issues at all...

Re: Sony 28-135mm lens 95mm ND filter?

It's the only Variable ND I would ever use, period.

I don't know how the physics of their "depolarizing plate" works, but it's the only one I don't have to worry about colored specular highlights,...

Re: Sony 28-135mm lens 95mm ND filter?

Nope. With 2 thick filters you get a very small hint at the edges at 28mm in 4:3 photos. In video mode you can go 3 filters deep. (Why would you though?)

You can even reattach the lens hood with...

Re: Sony 28-135mm lens 95mm ND filter?

I use a cavision 95mm-82mm step down ring. It opens up a larger selection of filters and it doesn't vignette with one or two filters attached. I recommend kenko's ndx variable nd filter combined with...

A7S Dynamic Range test

I just did a completely unscientific comparison between the 5D Mark III Magic Lantern Raw and the A7S S-LOG2 in a very high contrast challenging environment. The goal was to avoid any clipping in the...

Re: SONY DSC-RX10 gets XAVCS!!!

The iso test works on avchd as well.

By the way, if a specific camera has a center of gravity that makes it awkward to balance a gimbal, such as a camcorder that needs to be placed to the far...

Re: SONY DSC-RX10 gets XAVCS!!!

I have a Came 7000. Works really well. I prefer to use it with my rx10 instead of my 5DmkIII in raw mode because of it's deeper depth of field and autofocus capabilities. The light weight of the rx10...

Re: SONY DSC-RX10 gets XAVCS!!!

Sony seems to be doing everything right these days.
Although I was pleased with the video quality I was getting from my RX10, the AVCHD codec meant I could not trust it for any kind of professional...

Re: Atomos announces $295 Ninja Star - HDMI ProRes recorder w/o monitor

It should've come with Compactflash instead. I have lots of 600x, 800x and 1000x cards lying around from every time we upgrade our dslrs.

Thought I'd share the outcome of my little experiment. Surprising to say the least.

Re: NEW!! FlowCam 5 Digital Stabilizer (not MOVI)

It looks very promising and high quality. I would tweak the follow mode algorithm though to damp the motion a little more :)

Re: "UltimateContrast" My new 5d mark III picture style

You have to load it into your camera using EOS utility. I made it non editable to avoid having someone modify it in picture style editor, saving it and accidentally ending up with a messed up version...

"UltimateContrast" My new 5d mark III picture style

The first thing I realized when I upgraded to the 5D mark III was that my older picture styles were not behaving the same way they did in the mark II. After months and months of tweaking, testing,...

Re: Hi guys, looking for a Wide lens for 5d mark iii

I use the world famous Nikon 14-24 2.8 with a fotodiox adapter. A fantastic lens! Only downside is losing autofocus and electronics.

Re: First impressions + rough and ready sample

It looks like it's resolving more detail than we might think.
The problem is that the sharpening algorithm in the camera sucks.
I would rather keep the detail setting at 0 and do your sharpening in...

Re: 5DM2 and VAF-5D2 filter

I have tried the Sigma 20mm 1.8 and the corners are way blurry. After some experimenting, I've found out that part of the problem is that the filter changes the focal plane so that it's not flat...

Re: Warp Stabilizer = future steadicam

The things I'd change/add warp stabilizer are:

1. The ability to ignore part of the image when analyzing. (Of particular importance with reflective surfaces.)

2. An option to lock my horizon at...

Re: Premiere Pro Cs5.5 rebuilding icons bug?

Ok, just found out what it is. If I select the CFRT player instead of the adobe player it does what I mentioned in my previous post, so it must be a cineform bug.

Moderators: Is there a way to...

Premiere Pro Cs5.5 rebuilding icons bug?

Am I crazy or is CS5.5 rebuilding picons for the timeline and bins each and every time I double click on a clip from the bin?

Needless to say, this makes it much slower for editing than the...
