Re: reasons to NOT buy Cheap Chinese HMI lights

We spend a great deal more time not only on our own model to set us apart but also in QA.

You have to know that there are at least 35 vendors actually making some of these tungsten clones in...

Re: Cool Lights 256 LED & Pearstone battery no go?

I wonder if there could be some kind of current limiting within that battery that isn't in the older ones or some kind of limit to the sustained current draw in any case. Those camcorders are fairly...

Re: Cool Lights 256 LED & Pearstone battery no go?

I never even heard of a NP-F975. The only ones I know that work well are the NP-F970 and that's the one we support. I have no idea what the differences are in the NP-F975 to make it not work but...

Re: Florescent and LED spectrum is nowhere near flat

Better check with them before you buy and see if its possible to measure a whole panel full of LEDs with the base module, somehow I doubt it based on what I know about this kind of equipment. You'll...

Re: Apple-Like White Background for Interviews - How-to?

Someone else was asking about that in a thread here:

Take a look at that and see if it...

Re: Florescent and LED spectrum is nowhere near flat

As I said earlier, we already told people about all this on forums such as this one as early as 2008, our blog in 2009 at the release of our LED products, and we continue to say it today: LEDs...

Re: Florescent and LED spectrum is nowhere near flat

We've had LED 600s out for 2 1/2 years now. No "low light failures" that we've heard of. The LED 600 is completely modular and if a customer wanted to upgrade or change out an LED panel, dimmer or...

Re: Florescent and LED spectrum is nowhere near flat

Here's some thoughts that come up for me as I see this "revived" thread.

1). I can't particularly speak for other manufacturers but we don't claim LEDs have a high CRI. I just looked at the...

Re: Color Meter Weirdness

Mikael, I would suggest just sending an email to info@coollights.biz and we can continue there.

Michael, I think they do the best they can for CCT type sources in digital mode at least that is my...

Re: Color Meter Weirdness

Yes that is the crux of the issue. Anything measure in CCT would not be well handled on a color temperature meter because they simply (as of this time) are not that accurate for CCT sources (which...

Re: Color Meter Weirdness

5 years ago when I was designing our studio flos which was our first product, I looked at Osram and Philips but they didn't meet my criteria for universal voltage input. They probably still don't...

Re: Color Meter Weirdness

It has to do mainly with time and resources available and how they should be most wisely spent. Our customers appreciate our fluorescent fixtures and tubes and have not been telling me they need to...

Re: Color Meter Weirdness

Thanks for your comments Mikael. As far as I know, I'm the only lighting manufacturer that takes on these issues and is willing to discuss them.

As far as CCT (correlated color temperature), a...

Re: Color Meter Weirdness

The problem is there really isn't anything else other than CCT (correlated color temperature) at this point and CRI to describe LEDs and Fluorescent. This is all good enough for the...

Re: Color Meter Weirdness

Most of the time there are mundane explanations behind mysteries and not conspiracies: like someone just doesn’t know how to use an instrument or doesn’t know its limitations. In this case, someone...

Hi Sean,

You can use two at a time if you leave the barndoors out. Just take them off, put in the 2 or more filters and then close the accessory locks so they won't fall out. Just depends upon...

I hope no one is asking people to stare into it. Definitely a bad idea. From the side, ok.

Also I sincerely doubt the unit in the link is really full spectrum. No one LED is going to be able to...
