Re: Old Timers Role Call - WEVA Event DV

I really miss this place, and forums/message boards in general.

Re: Live Streaming Weddings

Out of curiosity, who is typically watching these live streamed weddings? Aren't most of the interested viewers already in attendance?

Re: Correct workflow for C100 AVCHD

What Ben said. I use the data import utility on PC. I much prefer it to copying the folder structure of the SD card. The folders containing the video files are much less cluttered, long takes are...

Re: Cx00 & Green Screen Problem

Canon Log definitely does some weird things to blues and greens. I would probably stick with a standard rec709-based profile for green screen work, like normal 1-4 gamma and color matrix.

Re: If my A Cam is a C300 mk II, what color settings should a C100 mk II B Cam use?

I'm in the same boat. I've been using C100s for years, and I just got my hands on a C300mk2. I recently did a shoot where I set the c300mk2 to bt709, and I set the C100 to CP8 (wide dr) with...

Re: Documentation on C100 Recording Times?

Yes, there's a difference: the C100 looks better (in my opinion).

You also can record on two cards at once, so in the unlikely occurrence of one card failing, you have a backup.

Re: Test shoot with light meter and c-log

My problem is, I don't know where I actually want my skin tones while shooting C-log. And this is coming from a guy who has analyzed shots from Barry Lyndon using a waveform. (In Barry Lyndon, skin...

Test shoot with light meter and c-log

Hello, friends. Posted this on the other board, but I figured I'd share here too.

In my never ending quest to get better at C-log, I bought a light meter, and ran some tests. Let me know what...

Re: C100 MkII - How can I lower contrast on EOS profile?

There's a "custom picture" button on the side of the camera. It gives you a vast amount of control over the image, though I don't believe there's a simple contrast adjustment.

You probably want...

Re: Contrast/Saturation adjustment of EOS profile

There's a very deep "custom picture" menu structure on the EOS cinema cameras. Though if you're not going to use the EOS standard profile on the C100 pretty much as-is, you're probably better served...

Re: C100 Mark II Grain?

The way I shoot now, and I've been shooting with C100 MK I's and II's basically every day since the MK I was released, is if I have to start bumping the ISO above 850, I switch from WIDE DR to a...

Re: Advice on new BD/ DVD authoring software?

Ok, in Authoring Works I CAN import my single BD-compliant h264 files from Adobe Media Encoder. That's good.

And while I can import Photoshop PSD files as a menu background, I don't think it's...

Re: Advice on new BD/ DVD authoring software?

Thanks, guys! I already use Tmpegenc Mastering Works sometimes, so looks like Authoring Works is the way to go.

Anyone know if it will accept PSDs with layers from PhotoShop for the menus?

Advice on new BD/ DVD authoring software?

I used to use DVD Maestro, but that doesn't do Blu-ray. Then I made the painful switch to Adobe Encore, since it was fully integrated with all the other Adobe apps I use. But now Encore is at the...

On camera light for a hater?

What ho, fine friends!

I've always turned my nose up at on-camera lights. I don't like the flat washed out lighting that gets brighter as anything moves closer to me. I hate drawing attention to...

Re: C100 MkI vs Mk II color difference

That's very interesting and helpful, thanks! I'll try it out.

Though honestly, I've found that when the mk1 and mk 2 are set to the same kelvin and the same stock picture profile, they look...

Re: Let's share our Lav Mic techniques!

Yeah, I've never attempted, or wanted to attempt, micing a bride. 99% of the time, the audio from the groom's lav is fine. I've never had a groom complain about just clipping it to his lapel.

Re: Difficult Bride + Discs Not Working

Yes. That would be about $15 more than a DVD player :)

Seriously. You can spend time educating your client about disc/player quirkiness, or you could make a great, memorable customer service...

Re: Difficult Bride + Discs Not Working

Find a $30 DVD player that you know will play your disc and send that to them too. It costs more to legally license music.

Re: Difficult Bride + Discs Not Working

I get that there are often quirky player and disc incompatibilities. But if I had paid several hundred or several thousand dollars on a wedding video, I wouldn't want someone explaining to me why my...

Re: Difficult Bride + Discs Not Working

If you want to make the customer happy, why not try a few different brands of disc? Surely that would take less time and have more chance of a happy outcome than endless rounds of back and forth...

Re: Tascam DR-10CS - where have you been all my life.

Anyone know if there is a way to disable the automatic gain function? Seems silly to include auto levels in a device aimed at professionals, especially in one that records a secondary, quieter...

Re: Dragging a stabilizer along to the photoshoot

It's sentences like that that make me think we should have additional sub-forums for UK as opposed to USA weddings. I have never in my life heard the term "wedding breakfast." I'm assuming this is...

Re: PRESS picture function not working on C100 MK1

I agree with all those ideas for minimizing noise, Gary. But it's perfectly reasonable to also want to use the right picture profile for the right job. For example, stock WIDE DR looks quite a bit...

Re: PRESS picture function not working on C100 MK1

Yes, I'm looking at the waveform as I'm turning the function on and off. And I'm looking at it later. It is not "pressing" the signal as the manual says it should nor as the C100 Mk2 does correctly...
