Re: C100 or C300?

I'm curious to hear others weigh in on this too. Like many of us on the board, I eagerly awaited news of the C300 Mk II, and was disappointed that, price-wise, it's out of range.

The C300 is...

Tech Support

A quickie shot last week. We used a 5DMKII with 16-35 2.8 for the master and a 7D with a 50 1.4 for the closeup, which I ultimately didn't use. Color is a bit too warm; I'm still working on limited...

Re: Unable to Import Clip into FCP7

No, it's a self-contained clip, 2.5 gb in size. It plays back fine in QT, just won't import. Very frustrating.

Unable to Import Clip into FCP7

I was given three small clips on a hard drive to import into my system. Two of them come in fine, one of them consistently gives me the error message attached. The clip has a ".mov" extension. ...

Thanks for the kind remarks.

Yes, no release forms. My vague understanding of the law is that if something is shot for editorial use, that is, "news," or something that is not intended to...

7D and 50 1.4 in Times Square

Except for a couple of shots, I used a Canon 50 1.4 I picked up off craigslist. There's a strobing to some shots I've never noticed before that bothers me a lot; perhaps it's been discussed on the...

NYC Construction Time Lapse

I've been somewhat obsessively recording the construction of a building one block south of my apartment which has now effectively killed half of what was once a fantastic open view.

This is my...

One Hour on Broadway - B&W

I spent an hour or so shooting on the Upper West Side here in NYC with a borrowed 24 - 105 L series lens. I set the camera to monochrome and in-camera sharpening and contrast to 100%, which was...

Exporting to iPhone

When exporting EX1 footage off the FCP timeline using the QT Conversion iPhone preset, it automatically letterboxes the clip. I've just cut a piece shot on the 7D and transcoded to XDCam EX codec...

I transcoded the sequence to ProRes and indeed it does play back fine in HQ. However, the original sequence that I was having problems with plays back fine now also. Hope it lasts . . .

Monitoring options have remained the same, that is, NO external monitor. I tried Unlimited Render but the problem persists. I'd also turned off the warning notice but I could see (I think?) those...

Sanken CS-1

I'd used a Sennheiser ME66 for years on my PD150, which was a bit tinny and tended to distort when levels got too hot. I got a great deal on the Sanken CS-1 short shotgun off craigslist that I...

Success

Hi Jim --

It worked just fine, I can't thank you enough. Clips play back a bit choppy in the playback window, but I suppose it's due to my older Dell's video card.

So . . .once these clips are...

I was a long-time user of the ME66, but recently got a used Sanken CS-1, which I find superior in both quality and form. It's very, very small, far shorter and thinner than the ME66 and 416, which...
