Re: Our journey with the BMPCC 4K

That's good news Steve.
Particularly now that the latest firmware update seems to have extended the life of the batteries considerably.
It's a camera to get excited about :-)

Re: Our journey with the BMPCC 4K

Many thanks Guillermo.
Very helpful.
I have one on order and your review confirms everything I have discovered about the camera.
Such a shame about the problem with the battery compartment. I went...

Re: Which HD Canon Camera Would You Recommend?

If it was run and gun you might have a problem with the c100.
But for sit-down interviews it should be perfect.
You won't need a lot of light for shallow depth of field.

Re: JVC GY LS300 firmware wishlist

Steve.
Many thanks. That's exactly what I meant.
Duncan - wow, even better.
I am trying to resist buying one. But it is becoming difficult :-)

Re: JVC GY LS300 firmware wishlist

Yes, I was a bit too approximate in my summary.

Returning to my point. I wonder if prime zoom via lanc could ever be a feature of this camera as the result of a software update?

I have a Fig...

Re: JVC GY LS300 firmware wishlist

Locking the F stop: a very useful feature.

I guess that controlling the prime zoom via lanc is not something that can be done in software. This was a question that I had in my mind about this...

Re: Why I love my job.

Me too.
It is three years since my father died.
His wife (my stepmother) died a year before that. She had dementia for five years. It was very strange the way it started. Two weeks before...

Re: Drone Hits British Airways Plane at London Heathrow

I hope they tighten up regulation massively. It seems completely out of control. There have been many reports of near misses.

Lives should not be put at risk by drones.

Perhaps I should declare...

Re: Was Asked to Shoot Commercial...

Better sound won't make people think that the film sounds better. They will think it looks better. Sound is subliminal .

If you can, take some stress off yourself by finding someone who knows what...

Re: Best set up for grading and what hardware?

The words '3D TV' and 'emperor's new clothes' spring to mind.
The most compelling reason for using 4k seems to be the ability it affords to zoom and reframe footage.

Re: Quick way to browse/view many folders of video files on PC?

The latest version of Edius comes with a piece of software called Grass Valley Browser.

You can use this to catalogue the video, audio and stills on all your hard drives. It seems to allow real...

Re: Once expensive, now junk, but still hard to throw away?

A 500 mb hard drive. Bought in the mid 90s for £650.

I am sure it has something interesting on it but I have no way of checking.

Re: Landscapes of memory. Doc about an artist's work.

I watched this on my iPad mini on the kitchen table. Not exactly ideal viewing conditions.

I really enjoyed the film and would imagine that it would be quite an experience to view it in a cinema...

Re: Lens for Green Screen Key

If you have something like an ipad there is a very good app called Greenscreener that will help you get an even exposure across the green screen.

If you have an even exposure it should be easy to...

Re: Digitizing VHS tapes, what format other then DV for lossless digital file format?

It is possible that you may already have a time base corrector. If you use a hard drive recorder with your TV.

I was given about 50 VHS tapes to digitise for a client. Many dating back more than...

Re: Objections to Catholic weddings

They certainly used to say it in Church of England weddings dating back to when I was a choirboy 45 years ago. I have heard it said since then. I don't know if they still do.

I am reminded of...

Re: When Vimeo is down :(

Vimeo seems to load and play a lot faster since the recent redesign of the player.

My main gripe with Vimeo is the way it behaves on the ipad. The layout is bizarre. A collection of different...

Re: Online course in Critical Listening

You don't need to pass anything in order to move onto the next step with this course.

There is some kind of certificate for those who want it and who can make the grade.

Re: Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS

Wasn't there a rumour of a motorised zoom lens to come from Canon at some point.
Or was that wishful thinking on my part?
It may not be cinematic but it is certainly what the customer wants on...
