Re: FILM FILM FILM! Kodak's back baby... Kodak's back.

I've had requests from clients to shoot some super-8 at weddings and I know other wedding videographers that have done really well providing that service. Folks like it for emotional events not...

Re: A7II & A7RII Canon compatibility post firmware

Yeah it works pretty well actually! At least it does in the more broad autofocus area modes. Once you start getting down to specific autofocus points it doesn't do so great. I am surprisingly using...

Re: Sony A7sII announced!

I'm a 6D user that went to the A7R II. It's pretty awesome. Wish I'd known the A7S II was coming out that soon though.

I love the OLED viewfinder, focus peaking, magnification during recording,...

Re: Problems with Sony A7RII, Canon IS and Metabones Adapter

Thanks Pat. Haven't gotten my camera yet but I'm sure I'll have my share of frustrations. Otherwise how do you like it so far?

Re: Sony announced new A7r mk2, RX10mk2 and RX100mk4 all with internal 4k

Has anyone here gotten to play with an A7RII yet? I have mine ordered but who the heck knows when they'll ship...

Re: Sony announced new A7r mk2, RX10mk2 and RX100mk4 all with internal 4k

I'm pretty sure the URSA mini is a repackaged Black Magic Production Camera. It's not going to be great in low light and the dynamic range is good, but not anything special. For wedding filmmakers...

Re: Sony announced new A7r mk2, RX10mk2 and RX100mk4 all with internal 4k

Here are the first high-ISO still image samples. Looks as good or better than my 6D so I think I'll be happy with it.

Re: Sony announced new A7r mk2, RX10mk2 and RX100mk4 all with internal 4k

To be clear, I certainly was not dismissive of the full-frame mode and even indicated that I'd still likely prefer it over S35. I still think Sony is making it sound like S35 mode will have less...

Re: Sony announced new A7r mk2, RX10mk2 and RX100mk4 all with internal 4k

Sony is advertising the S35 mode on this camera as advantageous. No pixel-binning in that mode means less weird stuff happening during processing that produces the moire, aliasing, and softness that...

Re: BlackMagic - URSA Mini

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Spielberg has never shot on anything other than film for major projects. Jurassic Park included.

Re: Sony announced new A7r mk2, RX10mk2 and RX100mk4 all with internal 4k

S-log in the RX10 and RX100 should be interesting. If you bought all three of these cameras it could make a pretty sweet travel setup.

The Panasonic LX100 seems to be the direct competitor to the...

Re: Samsung NX1: H.265 and 4k

Has anyone shot much in 1080p? I noticing some gnarly issues in high-detail areas. The 1080p is already about as soft as the 6D but then there are these crazy artifacts. Perhaps some sort of noise...

Re: BlackMagic - URSA Mini

It's purists who find built-in NDs to be a disgrace since they theoretically lower image quality more than something that goes in front of the lens. Nevermind cost savings, practicality, workflow,...

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

Cool stuff. Sure does seem like it can swing ISO 1600 a lot better than another example I've seen. 3200 gets a little soft but still not bad. I'd put this ISO performance about on par with the GH4...

Re: JVC deal on the new LS 300/ LA Debut Event

^^^ hopefully the export settings for that video weren't ideal. That is some pretty soft 4K video…and it definitely can't be chalked up to youtube compression. Honestly I still have yet to see LS300...

Re: JVC deal on the new LS 300/ LA Debut Event

Hey Rick, once you get into large sensor sizes such as super 35, a 12x zoom lens that is great in low light will cost you a heck of a lot more than a camera. If you need the zoom, a lot of folks...

Re: JVC deal on the new LS 300/ LA Debut Event

The free lenses have the correct mount for the LS300 so you wouldn't need an adapter to use them.

The main difference between the two lenses is focal length. On the LS300 the 24mm will be...

Pretty sweet! Any mention as to the specific adapter? Is the speed booster an option?

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

Getting pretty excited about this camera. Did anyone else panic a little bit with they changed lenses with the sensor active and exposed? Is that a no no or am I unnecessarily freaking out a bit?
