Re: New Sony A7s to shoot 4K video

I see what you're saying. The ring itself isn't locked to the internals but rather controls them electronically. Sounds like that'd make pulling focus very frustrating.

I've got my eye on those...

Re: New Sony A7s to shoot 4K video

Don't all lenses change focus distance on a logarithmic scale?

Re: New Canon C300 Firmware Version 1.0.8.1.00 Fixes Color Fringing: Texas Media Sys

It's got basic functions galore. Still a great camera.

11 months later and we get no UI improvements or new features.

Litepanels bi-focus shifts green/magenta while focusing

I just picked these up from eBay. Plugged them in and immediately noticed that the spot LEDs dip to magenta and the flood LEDs spike green. Do brand new perfectly functioning models do this?

I...

Re: Can anyone give a report on using the EF-S 17-55 with the C300?

I always use the Canon hood with the 17-55. I have not had any vignetting problems at all. I am shooting with peripheral illumination on of course. But either way, the hood doesn't seem to make a...

Re: Can anyone give a report on using the EF-S 17-55 with the C300?

I just bought a new one and it's better. Still not L smooth, but better then my first copy. Going to sell that one.

Re: New Canon 4K camera announcements

Oh and my shutter being at 180º means 1/48 because I shoot everything at 23.976 fps. There is NO WAY I can crank the shutter to 1/120 at the reception. Any self respecting videog/photog cannot...

Re: New Canon 4K camera announcements

I shoot about 60-70 weddings per year so I get to work with all kinds of photographers from the $1k guys to the $8k guys. You're right, many of the high end photogs don't use flash... until the...

Re: New Canon 4K camera announcements

Are you also going to make your flash go off 60 times per second? Is your shutter going to be at 1/200 to freeze the action at a dimly lit reception? While someone is in the middle of a speech are...

+1 for audio on playback. Seems like a mistake that it's not there.

I want the option to have black bars in the LCD above and below the aspect ratio guides.

Re: meeting Canon Engineers

Not sure if anyone else is interested but I would love to have more white balance presets like the DSLRs: shade, cloudy, fluorescent.

Re: Using LUTs with FCP

Just find a LUT plugin for FCP. I assume there are free ones out there somewhere. It will allow you to choose a LUT file. But I wouldn't use it as a place to start CC from.

I don't even have a LUT...

Re: Should I pull the trigger on a C300? Is this the right choice for me?

Oh right, that was a very cool feature. Can't say I used it often but it was powerful. I wonder if something similar will be possible with the WiFi iPhone/iPad control.

Re: Should I pull the trigger on a C300? Is this the right choice for me?

The C300 does have A/B white balance mode (although I do have complaints about white balancing).

The C300 is not a replacement for the EX1/3. I have an EX1 and I have no intention of selling it....

Re: Should I pull the trigger on a C300? Is this the right choice for me?

Get the C300, you will love it. C'mon man, I shoot frikkin weddings and it's the right camera for me. I'm sure others will chime in with more thoughtful advice.

Re: C300 Possible bug?

Whenever I switch to Slow & Fast, dual recording is disabled. I figured this was normal operation.

Re: Is exposing C-log different than usual?

Hopefully their actual engineers are more in touch than their trade show tech guy.

Good point on using zebras. I am interested to know how you use yours at 60-65. When I had my EX1 zebras at 56, I...

Re: Can anyone give a report on using the EF-S 17-55 with the C300?

I think I might just have a bad copy then. I feel like mine diffuses the light too much, has poor sharpness, and the zoom ring has a tug in it when going from 55mm to 17mm, happens at about 28mm. I'm...

Re: Can anyone give a report on using the EF-S 17-55 with the C300?

I don't have much experience with either of those so I'll just take your word for it. Just sayin, I just want my 17-55 to feel as good as my other zooms.

Re: Can anyone give a report on using the EF-S 17-55 with the C300?

I hear you on the optical quality but I have to disagree with you that the only thing keeping it from being L series is its EF-S designation. It is definitely not built like an L lens. It's plasticy,...

Re: Can anyone give a report on using the EF-S 17-55 with the C300?

I'm selling my 24-70 because I just don't use it anymore. Having IS for handheld work is great so I definitely prefer the 24-105. And with the C300's crazy ISO ability, f/4 is not a problem even in...
