Re: DSLR vs Cinema camera "look"
5D4 4K footage downscaled in a HD timeline works well but to achieve a really sharp result 4K can first be downscaled to 2K using a Lanczos 3 algorithm in Compressor or similar program. Using this...

Re: 1DX MkII C-Log?
Some of Canon's ideas about marketing like not making c-log available for the 1DX Mkii do a good job of driving people to other brands. It's luddite thinking that just drives people off.

Re: Canon 1DC New Firmware Version 1.4.0
While Sony and Panasonic strive to keep their customers happy with regular and useful updates to their video products, it's become an unfortunate joke for owners of the 1Dc who (having spent a...

Re: Canon XC10 vs. Sony RX10-II
The RX10-II doesn't have a headphone jack and an external mic needs an optional hot shoe device. I'd consider that a bigger disadvantage than a 29 minute recording limit.

1Dc overdue for enhanced features
I own a 1Dc and love the image of this camera but feel very frustrated that Canon seem unwilling or incapable of adding new features.
The extended DR with log is great but very tricky to expose...

Re: Help with 1DC Line Level Recording
Ridiculous indeed! Seems like very sloppy management of firmware development. Canon don't seem to be very interested in looking after customers who bought the 1Dc.

Re: Help with 1DC Line Level Recording
A bit annoying a camera as expensive as the 1Dc has this problem. Canon made quite a bit of noise about it being an important update feature last year. Maybe it doesn't affect all the 1Dcs out there...

Re: Help with 1DC Line Level Recording
Just checked with my 1Dc.. exactly the same issue. Disappointing, perhaps Canon forgot to check if the line-in function with the 1.3.4 firmware update actually works!

Re: Terrible noise 5DIII
What frame rate and shutter speed did you use? Cost Rica is an NTSC country - power cycle 60hz. You might need to shoot in NTSC mode and shutter at 60 to avoid flicker from lights.

Re: 5D mk3 new firmware now available!
No miracles with HDMI out picture quality compared to internal but 422 does have more chroma information.
Probably only noticeable with grading or transcoding to other codecs for web use etc.

Re: 5D mk3 new firmware now available!
It seems to work well with the Ninja 2. Camera record start/stop will trigger record mode in the Ninja with the appropriate camera settings. Set on auto or 50i signal to get 25p in Ninja 2. There...

I started out with a Sony EX1 some years back & about a year ago bought 5D mk3. Both great cameras but with different strengths & weaknesses. A couple of months back after evaluating a lot of footage...

Re: PP's on the C100
I use the 5DMK3 for video and like the image, but there is no way it can resolve the same amount of detail as the C100. To my eyes the difference is obvious.

FCP is not the problem with videos looking darker on vimeo. It's something to do with the way vimeo encodes in Flash Player. There is an option when you are logged into vimeo to can choose to view...

Re: 5d Mk. III for Broadcast - Yes or No?
The Mark iii should be fine for broadcast purposes if footage is well shot & graded.
