Re: Garbled Audioand drop outs - Sony FS-5

Trying a new up to spec SD card would be a good first step.

If problem persists, back to Sony for warranty service...

Re: FS5 LCD Sun Hood

I made my own, from Velcro™ fabric, and then a bit of the hooks part stuck on the LCD.

It is easy to do and very light, it also protects the LCD in transport.

You can still operate the switch...

Re: slow motion specular highlight issue

It is possible to get some very nice results in SloMo with the FS5. All cameras have some problems. I would be tempted to try a ProMist filter on high contrast Slomo. If I get a chance I will try...

Re: FS5 & Firmware upgrade w/7Q+ vs FS7

I have FS7, FS5 and the A7s.

I use them all, they are all great at what they do.

For HD I use the FS5 60% of the time and the FS7 35%, A7s 5%.

4K (UHD) FS7 80% FS5 18%, A7s (with Odyssey...

Re: Rigging the FS7

V-mount is one standard and many make batteries and plates for this system, IDX is one of them as is Sony.

The Gold Mount is a different Brick battery system, that AntonBauer Makes and now it has...

Re: Rigging the FS7

Yes you can even lay the battery flat or invert it so the bricks low for even better balance, though this makes it a little awkward to put down.

There are 2 types of plates Goldmounts, I use AB...

I have a couple solutions for IDX or AB (GoldMount) plates on this page:

Re: Sony FS5 vs Sony A7SII

Yes the short answer is buy both.

They are completely different cameras.

The A7s cams are just a smaller DSLR with all the ergonomic problems they entail, but smaller lighter and fantastic in...

Re: Just pulled the trigger on the FS7K

Only when you have a lens that supports it, most don't. I know the old 18-200 from the FS700 had that, it is the only one I have that does, and I have dozens of Sony and Canon etc lenses. Most lenses...

Re: FS5 kit lens focus issue in manual

I have noticed this as well. But only when I use the "clear zoom" built into the FS5. So it has something to do with switching from clear zoom to regular on zooming out.

And I would think this is...

Re: 4 channels of audio?

As you probably know FCPX has a system that can separate different audio channels (or video channels) into roles. This is very nice as you can export to a track based audio editing app like ProTools,...

Re: 4 channels of audio?

You can have FCPX not import silent tracks. It is just one of many import options. You set this up in the import window and it will stay for subsequent imports until changed again. I always strip...

Re: FS5 date and time reset?

In that case go back to your dealer for a new battery. Or you may have to have your camera fixed.

If it does not work with original Sony batteries something is very wrong. I suspect a bad battery....

Re: FS5 PP Profile

I posted a PP here a while ago:

PPs are very personal. And easy to do. But it takes time and patience as...

Re: Sony FS7 V3.0 Firmware Released

Call Sony and ask.

The reason I don't know is because I did the updates as they came out. I thought the manual or FW release docs would tell you if it is necessary to do FW updates in sequence.

Re: FS5 date and time reset?

I have heard that sometimes it helps if you don't charge the 3rd party battery all the way to 100%. And it may well be that as the battery ages it will start to work better as the top voltage will be...

Re: Sony FS7 V3.0 Firmware Released

You should always read the upgrade notes Piotr. The procedure will be in there. It is very important to have good power supply for anything you update FW on. I use a UPS on the AC power supply and a...

Re: SELP18105G firmware update?

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you can find someone in your area that owns and get together with her/him and test out the equipment. I often do that here, there are quite a few videographers even in...

Re: SELP18105G firmware update?

Piotr,

There is still distortion, just less. It also vignettes quite a bit, most users will not notice but it is there.

The 28-135 has superior image in every way as is operation. But it is...

Re: SELP18105G firmware update?

I would not buy the 18-105 for the FS7. Now for the FS5 it has its uses. But I would never call it a Pro lens (whatever that is).

I would borrow/rent/demo one myself before deciding.

I have the...

Re: Classroom lighting: SLOG2?

The decision of how to shoot is really based on what dynamic range you need.

This is easy to figure out, either with a light meter, if you have one and know how to use it. Or by using scopes.

Re: FS5 or FS7: please advise

Piotr,

Well if you only plan to shoot on sticks and need high end then get the FS7 it will produce superior results especially in 4K (real 4K not UHD) and it has the CineEI. However you may be...
