Re: Vegas Pro 10 and MOV files

I'm getting jerky playback with transitions, even a dissolve. This happens even in less than full Rez.

Any ideas? My system is similar to yours, i7 2.8 withn 8G .

Re: Vegas Pro 10 and MOV files

What are my options for encoding MOV files? Are they all lossless? After encoding, does Vegas handle the files effortlessly, and in what resolution?

I really wanted to skip the encoding route, but...

Re: Vegas Pro 10 and MOV files

Mike, as I said my system is a Dell i7 860 @ 2.80 mHZ with 8GB RAM. Seems like that should be hefty enough. I guess I wanted to see a full rez preview, and Vegas can't do it.

Strange, as Avid...

Vegas Pro 10 and MOV files

Is anyone editing MOV files (in my case from Canon 5D Mk II and 60D) with Vegas 10 without transcoding, or is transcoding still needed?

I need to edit a 2-camera shoot with just cuts and...

Re: 60d 7D proof

Is this a software feature or hardware? I wonder if ML developers can add this feature to other cameras?

Re: 60d 7D proof

I know the statement might dissuade you, but I think the statemen tabout "breaking the camera" is there for legal reasons for the developers. If you read the side affects for aspirin, it will say...

Re: 60d 7D proof

Edward, I was fearful as well - but now feel that risk is very minimal and am totally happy with having a 60D on steroids! :-)

Re: 60d 7D proof

OK - at least you've tried it and know what we're talking about - and yes, the unified version (60D, T3i, T2i, etc.) seems very stable.

It depends on what your idea of "essential" is. Certainly,...

Re: Magic Lantern for 60D!

The 1.09 release for 60D is incredible and seems totally stable. One great feature is a built-in user guide. When on menu item, push "info" button and it goes to that section of the manual, right on...

Re: The most important factor

I find the features in ML totally essential, not just "nice" - especially the audio features and focusing tools. I have had zero problems with stability - but I'm using the 60D version, not the 5DII...

The most important factor

If you're doing video, the Magic Lantern firmware is totally essential. If you don't know about it, look it up.

There is a version for 5D Mk II, 60D, 600D, 550D. There is -no version for 7D-, and...

Re: 60D lens for live performance

Thanks for the replies. Do all the lenses mentioned have smooth focus and zoom rings? I will need to zoom in and out while recording.

What about vintage manual lenses from Nikon or others - much...

Re: Canon Rebel T3i 18-55mm stock lens

It is a $100 lens and the build quality is somewhat poor. The optics and stabilization, however, are quite good and have received excellent reviews. You either have a bad copy or there is some type...

Re: Magic Lantern for 60D!

Latest version is for 1,09. You would have to downgrade, but check before doing it - I have never tried this and don't know what possible issues are.

60D lens for live performance

I need a lens with the following requirements for documenting dance performances with 60D and ML:

1. constant aperture
2. good zoom range (like 18-70 or better)
3. smooth focus ring
4. fast if...

Re: Magic Lantern for 60D!

Jon - FYI, no Canon DSLR has a headphone output. Magic Lantern uses the USB port. One needs a converted cable, or using some adaptors on the USB cable that comes with the camera.

Re: Magic Lantern for 60D!

Are you saying you can't obtain "serious" audio at 44.1kHz? While I often use an external recorder, 44.1kHz recorded by the 60D results in very nice audio as well.

Re: Magic Lantern for 60D!

By saying "how about audio monitoring" I wasn't asking if it had it - I use it all the time. It was more "how about mentioning" this important feature.

Re: Magic Lantern for 60D!

How about audio monitoring with headphones? I would not consider doing a live event without it.

Re: Magic Lantern for 60D!

Did you take the battery out and put it back in? This is what is suggested if any issue like a freeze comes up with ML.

Re: T2i vs. T3i vs. 60D

Alpha 12 for 60D is pretty stable - I've been using it for a few weeks - awesome! 60D with ML is an incredible combo.
