re: Four years since I last visited DVi

Facebook. The proliferation of Facebook Groups.
To a lesser extent, YouTube posting on specific topics, and people post questions to the creators there.

Re: Managing customer expectations when livestreaming

Offering the premium even if they can't afford makes it clear that if they want to put the onus on you there's cost involved.

BTW I had a job once where we confirmed a very robust and isolated...

Re: Managing customer expectations when livestreaming

Most important is to asses the venue logistics so you can then present the expectations.

Do a venue Speedtest connecting by the means you anticipate offering. That will give you upload speed and...

Re: Internet Connection Cost for Livestreaming

Make sure you have reliable moble connection otherwise you may want to consider a much higher priced bonded device. Keep in mind the potential for speed throttling as you near your capacity.

Re: Streaming options

Perhaps it depends on what you are streaming.
I've used anything from handycam style Canon Vixia series to Sony V90.
I don't need interchangeable lenses or shallow depth of field for what I live...

Latest release of Telestream Wirecast 12.1 has the destination although to actually use it you have to get approval from Linkedin as it's still in beta on their end.

Re: Portable Public Transportation Light Kit suggestions

... but if you're shooting micro four thirds....

Flex style lights defy the law of physics. ;-)
Of course some of the less expensive ones have very poor build quality.
There's also some...

Re: Portable Public Transportation Light Kit suggestions

I have both the Aperture 672 and Tri8. Yes the 672 is a bit fragile and while the Tri8 is built like a tank it seems to weigh almost as much. I do have the D-Fuse softbox for them which is easy to...

I guess I'm the only one on the board that uses public transportation.

Portable Public Transportation Light Kit suggestions

As an urban solo shooter there are times when it's best for me to use public transportation (usually subway).
This means I need to hand carry camera, tripod, audio, lights and stands.
Camera goes...

Re: looking for new system

And Wirecast can stream to Livestream but I believe you need an enterprise account.

Re: looking for new system

I use Wirecast regularly and am very happy with its extensive flexibility. Supports NDI of course. Wirecast Pro can even send NDI out. It's cross platform so you can move back and forth between Mac...

Re: ProRes RAW support?

I've heard it's a 6 month exclusive so it should start popping up in other places this fall.
I've love to see Blackmagic implement.

Re: Extra help

I have a few friends I can trust and pay. For me, a person who knows how I work is important. That they know how I work means the can jump in on things when I'm working on another aspect because they...

Re: Z90 - Shooting B&W?

While this tutorial is FCPX specific, given the color tools involved, you an carry over the concepts to Resolve.

Re: BMD Intensity Shuttle USB3 with MacbookAir

I'll second Jack's sentiment about Blackmagic Shuttle USB3 and drivers. I'm also a Wirecast user.
It seems their Thunderbolt devices are a bit more stable using the same drivers. I have no problem...

Re: S-Log on Z90, NX80, AX700

Just the beginning test to see what would work. If it were the red car and the mural of the right, they would be problematic as they may be underexposed and over saturated but that may just be part...

Re: S-Log on Z90, NX80, AX700

First is based on Doug Jensen's recommended profile except I left Detail at 0 and brought down highlights in post.

Second (on the right) is S-Log2 S-Gamut which is PP7 on the Z90.

Third (on the...

S-Log on Z90, NX80, AX700

I've been testing S-Log S-Gamut on the Z90. It's still a learning process for me.
I'm using FCPX 10.4 to examine the files.

Testing on UHD (so far) which is only 8 Bit.

I like the flexibility...

Re: Introduction to the Z90, NX80, and AX700

I wonder if one of us should start a thread specifically on S-Log since it's not clear that's where we've headed given the Title of this thread. New readers aren't likely to know that it's being...

Re: Introduction to the Z90, NX80, and AX700

I asked Alister Chapman about the use of S-Log 2 on the Z90 in UHD and his response:

"I used S-Log2 because in UHD you only have a very limited data range to play with and S-Log3 only uses 80% of...
