Re: Best shooting technique for hand held video

I've never got shoulder rigs. Buy a third party eyecup and shove your eyeball in the evf. You don't see much wobble with your eyes do you? Similarly, if your camera is glued to it. Your head is the...

Re: Harsh?

I don't often disagree on this forum, but this hypothetical situation is in no way comparable. How are the speeches more our thing than the photographers? What do we put in? From what I can see its...

Re: Harsh?

In fairness, I can sort of see their point. When our video or photos get's used by a hotel or other vendor without permission or credit we take offence. Is it not similar if a photographer creates a...

Re: 24-70mm on fullframe or 18-35mm in APS-C mode?

It works with Sigma lenses only, and pretty much only their 'art' range. It comes in both Sigma mount and Canon mount.

Not sure if it's as good as native, but it is miles better than any other...

Re: 24-70mm on fullframe or 18-35mm in APS-C mode?

Good man Peter. I feel f4 is just not fast enough for me personally, but 2.8 would certainly suffice.
I just wonder if there would be a few key portrait shots where I'd be annoyed I wasn't shooting...

24-70mm on fullframe or 18-35mm in APS-C mode?

For maybe the third time now I keep coming back to the notion of just simplifying my wedding setup and shooting on a zoom for most of the day. Lately I've been switching between my 35 and 85mm...

Re: My latest try! lol

Hi Kyle, super work!
As a Christian myself I can appreciate a lot of the elements and loved reading your Facebook post. Whilst I take all bookings, I'm always quite happy when I realise it's a B&G...

New Sony Recorder ICD-SX2000

I use a few ICD-UX533 sony recorders and find them to be very good and much preferable in terms of size compared with Zoom H1 and Tascam DR-04 etc...

I just seen this new one released by Sony...

Re: Sharing on Facebook - embed from Vimeo, or upload to Facebook?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your video is uploaded direct to facebook, then it collates all likes and comments from all people whoever shares it. Isn't that good?

Unless you become personal...

Sharing on Facebook - embed from Vimeo, or upload to Facebook?

Quality can be an issue, and not everyone has the sense to choose the HD option, but I've been considering the benefits for exposure and tracking your 'reach' might be worth it.

What do you guys...

Re: Tascam DR-10CS - where have you been all my life.

Peter, you might need to get better batteries. I use Eneloop Pros. On Saturday I forgot the Tascam on the groom and left it on all day. Pretty much from 12.30pm to 6.30pm - it was still recording and...

I've had one of my archive drives fail. way less of a worry than any of my main drives as all these weddings have long ago been sent to the client. There's another good copy of it still anyway. STill...

Re: Auto settings on backlit top table. Tips?

Thanks Chris, I'd not heard of that method before - I'll take a look!

As for the EV, I had thought about that, but like I said I expected the hotel to raise the lights again, so +3 EV might have...

Auto settings on backlit top table. Tips?

There was a surprised singing event happening during the meal at a wedding yesterday. I had to be ready and didn't know exactly when it would kick off. I would be operating a gimbal around the room...

Re: Lens changing and focal lengths

The cool thing about the A7 series is the crop mode for extra reach.

If I could be content knowing that f2.8 gave me enough bokeh in all shots, I would probably save for the G Master 24-70, and...

Re: Lens changing and focal lengths

I wonder if part of my frustration was about getting to the lenses for swapping. I reckon a few belt lens pouches would make changing over a bit more convenient.

Perhaps it's more a zooms versus...

Re: Double bookings

I find it interesting that in the discussion we have not yet heard anything about having a preference yourself!

Being honest, when I've been in these situations, I've always had a preference, and...

Re: Lens changing and focal lengths

Thanks guys. Funny that since moving to Sony a7s and now a7sii, I almost don't think of lens aperture in terms of light levels. (How it should be I might add).
It's all about DOF, and I think in...

Lens changing and focal lengths

There have been a few weddings in teh past where I never took my 24-70mm lens off after the ceremony, and found the 2.8 did a perfectly adequate job with the wedding day's shooting, but on nearly...

Re: Double bookings

I havnt read all the replies but for me it's simple. Who handed over/ transferred money first is the winner.

Of course it's never fun having a conversation like that with the runner up while you...

Re: How much does Lens quality really matter in wedding video?

Yet more sample footage and followed by frame grabs.

Really don't know if there is any need to shoot with either the Sigma or the Samyang unless somebody tells me I'm mad!!

35mm Lens Comparison...

Re: DJ Light Mounting advice

I need to do the best I can to make my video look good. I can no longer rely Bands/DJs to do that. I'll happily talk to them and explain. I'll be gone after 3/4 songs, and then they can turn the...

hmmmm.... yea.... I'll throw in a native lens sure for comparison... but it really is a different league. :-)

Re: How much does Lens quality really matter in wedding video?

Thanks guys!

One thing I noticed about teh CA test in second video - the sun seems to have popped behind a cloud just after the first lens was tested. I'm not sure if this maybe plays a part in...
