Re: Sony RX10 II - Love it

Thanks Chris!

You can definitely have auto focus and/or auto exposure on if you want at 120fps. I haven't tested it to see how it works yet though.

Re: Sony RX10 II - Love it

I've had it for a week or so and loving it so far.

Pros: gorgeous internal 4k, clean 1080 120p slow-mo, beautiful zeiss 2.8 lens, great video features like peaking, zebras, built in ND filter and...

Re: Why did this wedding film go viral?

The vows to the daughter is definitely the "hook" but there's also the fact that the groom is a known NASCAR driver as well. Having said that it's a beautiful film no matter how you look at it and we...

Re: Beach Wedding - Mic off Groom

I had a similar issue at a recent wedding on the bench. Crazy wind noise the entire ceremony. I managed to make it useable in post by adding a remove low frequencies filter (in FCPX), some noise...

Re: Slow motion clips techniques?

I do that all the time on my 5d3 & 6D for every wedding, mostly during the dancing when I'm flying. You really can't notice much of a quality difference, especially when only watched online. It works...

Re: Weddings: I would like to get your take on specific lenses for specific shots....

From my experience without any added lighting, f/4 is NOT good enough for the toasts. 2.8 isn't even good enough for a lot of my dimly lit receptions. Again, this depends on if you use your own...

Re: Weddings: I would like to get your take on specific lenses for specific shots....

Doesn't seem like there are a lot of prime shooters here. I prefer primes whenever I possibly can, outside of the ceremony.

I shoot with a 5d3 & 6D.

For prep I use the 35 Sigma 1.4 Art on the...

Re: Last wedding of the year

Well, there's no real secret...I just haven't shot any really long ceremonies yet. All of my ceremonies have been 10-20 minutes total including the processional. I also haven't done a Catholic church...

Re: Last wedding of the year

Thanks.

Yes, definitely. Along with the highlight film, they get an edited feature which includes the full ceremony, speeches, dances, extended montages etc. They usually average about 40 minutes...

Re: Last wedding of the year

Thanks Noa! I see what you're saying about the vows. It was a beautiful location but it was also a very early in the day wedding (2:00 p.m.) in bright sunlight so that was a tough challenge.

Wow,...

Indian Royalty-Free Music

I just shot an Indian sweet sixteen and I'm struggling to find good indian music for the online highlights. My usual two sites for weddings (songfreedom & themusicbed) don't seem to have much of a...

Re: gopro hero 3 vs. hero 3+ at weddings

Thanks for the responses. I agree with Dave, that's my concern about the new 3+ as well. I haven't been able to find any good samples or reviews on that focus issue.

As far as using it during the...

gopro hero 3 vs. hero 3+ at weddings

I'm considering adding a gopro to my arsenal as a part-time 3rd camera for unique angles/shots that arise at weddings (underwater/in cars/bikes/etc.) + to use as 3rd angle/backup during ceremonies (I...

Re: Zoom H1 on Auto

I would never count on the grooms H1 to pick up the officiant as well. You really need at least two H1/lav combos, with one on the officiant & one on the groom. That's how I work and find it works...

Re: Favourite lens for evening reception

I almost always shoot the reception with the Canon 35 1.4L or 50 1.4 on my 5d3 on a monopod and the 24 1.4L on my 6D on a stabilizer (using the monocam these days.) I like to shoot shallow DOF at 1.4...

Re: Longer Focal Length Recommendations for Ceremonies?

Count me shocked as well that you don't like the look of the 70-200. I just rented it for two weddings last weekend for the first time and now I don't think I can ever shoot a wedding without it. The...

Re: Wedding on a boat!

Thanks Robert! I liked that shot a lot also.

Re: Wedding on a boat!

Thanks James! I hadn't seen it either, let alone shot one. It was an interesting experience. Always nice to have a change of venue that you aren't used to.
