Mic Mount question for users of MultiRigPro
 

Got my MultiRigPro in the mail yesterday (glad I opted for the velcro belt, very supportive and comfortable) and have been practicing with it prior to a shoot this weekend for a Rock Climbing Documentary. My external Mic's Shock mount is cold shoe fitted, so it normally resides on my XH-A1's hot shoe. I'm curious if individuals here with the MultiRigPro prefer to leave such mics on the hot shoe of the camera or relocate them to the cold shoe accessory on the right hand grip (forward one) of the MultiRigPro?

I can play with both configurations when I'm out there, just wondering what others prefer to do having experience.

Personally speaking, if I was rock climbing or shooting in such a situation, I would rather try to find a way to either modify your Mic Shock Mount to take a 1/4 thread somehow. Or pickup a shock mount that has the ability to take a 1/4 thread.

I would trust the mic mount being threaded into the grip of the DVMulti Rig over a cold shoe mount. As shoe mounts have the risk of coming lose during a lot of movement or vibration by ones camera.

Actually, it does have a 1/4" thread on the bottom of the cold shoe mount, so that is an option, and a very good point you made. Thanks!

If you plan to shoot with the camera only in any part of your day, then mount the mic on the camera. But as you said, you can play with the confiq. and change if needed. Enjoy your multirig and mail us some nice production photos / clips...
