DV Rig Pro - and Cons

I am looking for a stabilization system for my DVX100A that will give me a lot of versatility in extremely rugged conditions - way up in the Armenian mountains - as well as critical support while shooting from a heavily vibrating helicopter. The goal is to achieve fluid, shake-free footage from the air.

Any thoughts on the DV Rig Pro (CA-DVT-100) or its alternatives? Also, specific advice on stabilization devices for helicopter shoots will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

See this thread for a bit more info in the DV Rig Pro.

But such braces are not stabilizers. There are devices that can compensate for helicopter vibration but they are very costly, far more than your camera. You might be able to find a helicopter service that offers use of such devices. But in Armenia...I have my doubts.

re: dv rig pro

Thanks very much Ken for the valuable advice.

I see from the previous thread that you do like this rig as a camera support. The little that I have read about it makes it seem like it does enable smooth steadycam-like shooting for basic walking and running situations, which still makes it an attractive tool for me. If not, what would you recommend instead?

As far as helicopter shooting goes, I'll keep looking. If you happen to know of anything in particular, I'd be grateful for the tip.

Thanks again.
