If this guy thinks that his footage with this shoulder stabilizer looks like Steadicam/Glidecam footage, then he is majorly delusional.

Unless he has been looking at some pretty crappy Glidecam footage.

I agree Michael this is not even close to a Steadicam/Glidecam. I look at the unit as a shoulder brace and that is it. I was just interested to see if people on DVinfo had had the chance to try one.

The design is hard to categorize, and the physics don't seem to make too much sense. It's not really a shoulder mount, as it uses a counterbalanced arm. The closest thing would be a human mounted crane... but you still have much of the underlying instability of the mobile platform from the looks of things.

Shoulder mounts typically do what they do by being a stable fixed mount, not a flexible system. In my experience the more "flex" you have in a system (short of a properly machined bearing/gimbal), just creates another spot for wobble/bounce to be introduced.

I agree David it looks like it would be hard to nail a smooth shot walking like he suggest.

im sorry, but I LOLed when I saw that... this is nothing close to a steadicam in terms of stabilization. not to mention that operating in tight spaces would definitely be harder with a crane and associated counter balance attached to your shoulder....

Steadicam it is not, it is a shoulder mount that we all agree looks very hard to use and is worth a pass.

I suspect the "SCAM" was lost in the translation... probably doesn't know what that means in English...
