shoulder mountains?
 

I saw the movie "the Edukators" recently and enjoyed it. I wondered what tools they used to achieve fluid yet "alive" camera work. After researching it, i found out that the movie was almost all handheld! (and shot on video!)

So, In my attempts at being a wannabe cinematographer, i feel like i've overlooked a simple but effective shooting style... but one that i cant get using my fx1.

The question is then... can you achieve the stability of a heavy shoulder camera using a small (in my case hdv) camera and shoulder mount/harness?

Like, would this rig allow you a similar stability to a big shoulder camera? http://www.paguk.com/orbitor.htm

I know that wont let you "fly" the camera, but it seems like it might smooth out the bumps similar to a weighty cam. It also seems that a rig like that might allow me to use a 35 adapter and use one hand for manual focus.

Anybody have an experiences with big cameras vs. small ones with rigs... or handholding a 35mm adapter?... or even better, anybody own that rig and have any feedback on stability?
