I have never used one on a fx1 or z1 but this stick was great for my gl2.

I actually like this thing for long static shots where mobility is key. One issue I have with it is that you cannot use it with larger cameras such as my hd100 because the screw that tightens the telescopic shaft does not do too well at securing the load so it will often drop. If that were fixed, it would work great with the hd100 and other heavy camcorders.

Ultimately, if your going to use this for mobile run & gun type of stuff then don't bother with this because you can't walk and shoot at the same time. The stick transfers the movement of your body to the camera = very annoying.

However, I still recommend it because it's really cheap and sometimes it comes in handy for long static shots. I first used mine in 2004 to videotape a kerry campaign speech and it was able to scale the crowd and my wrist wasn't dead at the end of the speech.
