48 hour projects

Hey I'm heading up a group for the 48 hour film fest in L.A., and I'm looking for something to compare work to. I feel like I've checked the entire net and can't seem to find but a handful of previous entries. Does anyone know where I could find previous winners or even contestants that didn't go on to win?

Thanks.
Nick

Did you take a look at www.instantfilms.com? One of
the people behind it (Charles Papert) is on this forum. He can
probably get you in touch with people. I assume this is not
the same event as you are talking about, but it is a 48 hour
movie site that runs every 6 weeks.

Hey rob thanks for the advice I did try and take a look at it but the files were all windows media and I use a Mac I'm not sure why but for some reason I only got sound and no video when I would try and download them.

Which version of the Microsoft Player are you using for the Mac?
You might need a newer version. Otherwise Charles might be
able to help you out to see the episode some other way...
Charles?

maybe it's just an issue with my mac I've had it happen with other winmedia files. I've updated to the most recent vesion I could find (believe me I keep checking) If charles can offer any advice that would let me see the clips that would be great.
Thanks for the suggestions though rob.

Hi Nick:

I have been assured that our Quicktime encoding of all 62 prior films is underway--can't wait to get those suckers on the site.

In the meantime, most Mac users including myself have success by option-clicking the links and selecting "Download link to disk", then watching in Media Player. Please let me know if that does or doesn't work.

That is great news, Charles! Do you/they have an estimate on
when those will be up?

Thanks!

Argh this upsets me I have no trouble downloading the films but i only get audio I have tried upgrading my media player but it doesn't work am i missing a plug-in or something? Anyone have a suggestion?

Rob Lohman June 12th, 2003 04:53 PM

According to my windows media player the video codec is:

Windows Media Video 9

So that should be included me thinks. Don't really have a clue.
Try waiting for QuickTime version instead.

Charles: I'm getting JavaScript errors when go with my mouse
over your menu (watch films | screenings | how it works etc.).
So I can't click any of that...

(I'm using Internet Explorer 6 on Windows 2000 Professional SP3)

Thanks for the bug reports guys, I've passed on this thread to my partner who handles the web stuff.

Nick, I'm so sorry you are having trouble with the downloads. I'll make sure to post when I have news on this.
