Nice work. Good images, cool compositions, great VO and story telling that leaves me wanting to see the 30 minute version.

Thanks Robert. I wish I had that much footage from Canyonlands. Unfortunately we rode about 70 miles through mountains and desert to get there from out motel then decided to climb the rocks for 2 hours. By then I was only able to shoot these clips and a bunch of stills before riding back to make it before dark. Its very dangerous to ride after dark because of the many animals crossing the roads and the last thing we wanted to do was get stuck out there!

u made the trip at the BEST time of the year!!
Beautifully done, considering your time schedule.
Too bad you couldn't shoot a sunrise/sunset...they're awesome out there.

Hey great job brother...

Have you considered doing voiceovers professionally? I would love to know how you recorded the VO... It sounds so nice...

Jim Miller May 30th, 2008 03:23 PM

Thanks Doug, My usual work flow for voiceover is quite simple. After writing the script (which is the hardest part) I use a sure SM58 mic (probably the most commonly used mic by vocalists). It sits on a short mic stand with a small pop filter in front at my desk. I record directly to SD mini DV tape so I have it for future use if I need it. Then I just import it via firewire (minus the video part) into FCP. I put the vo on a separate track and mix it directly in the timeline. ( Sometimes I use Sountrack Pro for compression and equalization)

I've never done any professional VO except for my own stuff, a lot of which has aired on a local biker TV show.

Hi Jim,

Great images of Canyonlands, and Newspaper Rock!

I know you guys were riding pretty hard, but were you able to stop at Wilson Arch, just off of highway 191?

Did you guys make it out to Monument Valley? Maybe even at historic Gouldings' Lodge?

So many sights to see, and could be easily missed when riding too fast :)

Loved the VO work as well.

Best,

We missed the arch but did spend some time in monument valley. We stayed in Mexican Hat the rode west and took the Burr Trail to Escallente. now thats a wild ride.
