Lady X: Episode 13: Clan Gozen in post production

Episode 13: Clan Gozen in post production

Dylan and I are deep into post-production and except for a little time out this weekend we have our heads nodding through sound, foley work, music consultation and some final editing. Here are some screenshots of what you'll be seeing in September.

Really very nice images. So you're going to make the next Tiger & Dragon/Hero-style movie...? :)

I liked what I saw too. I can't wait to see the finished movie.

Ditto.
The setting reminds me a little of Versus. Did you see that movie?
Interestingly, before gaining international attention with Versus, the filmmakers had shot a DV version in two weeks...

I think "Versus" did have something to do with the idea, eh Dylan? :)

I didn't know about the DV version but I've always thought that studios should shoot live action 'animatics' on DV before committing to film.

Actually, I wasn't inspired by Versus, but by the directors latest project, a samurai film, or at least by the 30 second trailer I saw for it.

I actually got to see Versus on the big screen here in Paris and had a lot of fun watching it. It was a regular screening and most people in the theater probably weren't expecting that kind of movie. But after a moment of disbelief, it seems they just went along for the ride (and it is one of these "ride" movies isn't it).

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to watching your LadyX episode.

To all involved in the LadyX project, I have to say you did one helluva good job in bringing it all together. Most of these projects end up in nowhere land, but you really came through and the website is awesome. I watched all the episodes this WE and really enjoyed (most of) them. And there's still so many to come! :-)

Hi Keith,

That looks good! Impressive and professional.... also by looking at the size of your crew and at the time-code on the screen.

Using any bullet-time Matrix style special effects in the fight scenes?

Azumi

Dylan would be a better person to talk about the effects. We shot mostly straight.

By the way, this is the movie Dylan was talking about, I believe:

Heh, no Matrix effects... and the crew was slightly smaller than it looks from that pic. There might have been lots of people walking down the sidewalk that day or something.

Updated Aug 18 clips

I've put up more clips and replaced the previous ones with larger versions.

You can really tell that we used the pro-mist filter in some of those shots.

Which Promist is that? A 1? Or a 1/2?

I remember it being a 1/2.

You'll have to watch for our cameos. Well, you won't have to look very hard. :)

Black Pro-Mist 1

Yes, we both have cameos. One of us lives, one dies.... :)

The thing I wish the most about it, is that we had time and money to set up and use proper lighting. Sigh.
