Crazy Las Vegas weather.
 

Crazy weather in Las Vegas yesterday (dec 30 03), considering its usually 110 degrees around here. Not the usual type of weather we got, so I ran to my camera bag and got it out. I'm working to get it longer, but since I was half asleep I basically walked around with the camera pointing at my feet, listening to the fun sounding crunches in the snow, so there wasn't too much good footage to cut. This was within 10 minutes of my waking early in the morning, so keep that in mind.

LOL! Up here in New York, I don't think we would even qualify that as snowfall!! I can't even think what its like to live somewhere that doesn't get the full four seasons to each of their extremes as I've lived here my whole life. But thanks for sharing Bryan, enjoy the snow and the sun!!

yea.. we drove out to redrock and i shot some footage of the cliffs and whatnot with snow on them. i hadnt been out there before (new to the area).. it's quite pretty.

here in the central/east area we didnt get any snow :(

Ohhhh, Someone else from Nevada! Adam, what are your cross streets, just for a more specific reference. I'm on Rampart and Cheyanne(North West), but I work all the way down at the Ethel M Chocolate factory on Sunset and Mountain Vista (south east near maccaren airpot).

I use to live in colorado for 3 years, so I really enjoyed seeing snow again.

If anyone could comment on what they dont like about my movies, (constructive critisism - you guys are good at it), I would appreciate it. Everyone I show it to is like, "Thats awesome!!!", and "Great!", even people that aren't really my friends. But when I look at it, I see several things that are lacking. So if you guys could give me your feed back, that would be great.

West Coast weather sure is insane this year.. I'm at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and classes were cancelled today because of snow flurries! Doesn't seem like much compared to what the East usually gets.

What song did you use in that "micro-short?" I know it's from a movie but I can't put my finger on it.

It's from my favorite movie of 2003. Kill Bill Volume 1.

I live on Desert Inn and Eastern.. so not far from the strip / downtown / the airport.

I know where chey and rampart is.. my friend used to have a dirtbike shop right up there.

you asked for some [constructive] video criticism, and i just downloaded your vegas.mov video.. so here's a shot at it. The overuse of quick zoom is dizzying, and not very profession. there are a lot of really quick jiggly cuts in there too that look sorta unprofessional. On the high side, i really like the motion blur on the very short shot around 19 seconds, and the right to left pan around 29 seconds is great too. The stratosphere stuff towards the end was nice, 2 or 3 of the shots complimented the video well. Use of a tripod, and keeping the camera horizontally level (so the horizon is level) would help too. You asked for a bit of criticism, so there's my shot at it ;) ..also, sound never hurts.

Thanks. They won't actually let you take a tripod up on top of the stratosphere, and every shot was from up there. Good point on the dizzying aspect. I figured since, all the footage I had was from like two spots on the stratopshere, I'd have to kind of make the motion dance, or I'd just have a few shots of the hotels doing nothing- being boring. If I had some shots down on the strip of slot machines and such I would break up the motions, I think it would really slow everything down, and keep it more pleasing to watch.
