What did everyone think of the motion graphics and stuff?
Did you guys dig it?

I like your opening shot with the checkerboard of images that pops in. I think it would make it even smoother if you slowly zoomed into the whole thing while all the images were still popping in, then when you do the fast zoom into the one image, ramp up the speed a bit.

Really nice rythm when we get to the "featuring" part.

I liked it. The slowing down in the middle of the stunts was great
and I think you added a lot of class to footage that usually has
a lot less, in my opinion. If you've done the whole DVD in this
way you should have a winner!

p.s. I merged your two posts into one (no need for multiple
posts) and transformed your uppercase into normal typing.
Uppercase is viewed as *yelling* over the internet which is
usually an unwanted thing. Thanks.

Its an artistic skate video, I love it. I also liked that video checkerboard. That is a lot of tracks to organized, and timed very well with the music. I agree with Alex that a slow zoom while they're popping in will make it a little smoother.
The white line revealing the credits was good... reminds me of the BMW films. It was a little strange just being white on black though, maybe you could reveal pieces of the video as well as credits?. If you haven't already, I'd recommend watching a couple of the BMW films at www.bmwfilms.com. Their intros use a similar idea to yours and might give you some ideas.
I think it looks like a great video. You've obviously spent some time on it and that shows. I'm going to give you an official "I dig it." Let us know when the dvd is released, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I watched your intro to your skate video. Very cool! A quick question about the video checkerboard scene... How long did that take u to do in after effects? Did u size done each clip and positioned them in a ruler grid? Did u use a plug in tool to help u out? Please let me know... very curious!

i just selected them all and put the scale to 10 and fit them in with my eyes its not that hard, the only hard thing is to get that many clips.

i loved the shots, i saw one of those handrails in the girl video. I really liked what you did with the checkerboard idea, very nicely done.

Mike everything was tight! Definite talent in the skaters. The checkerboard was nice too. Personally I liked the fast zoom in. Let me know when you drop the DVD so I can pick up a copy. These cats are just local skaters? Or sponsered pros?

I like your music of choice as for the boarders they looked great, as for the shooting good captures of them.

They are all sponsered AMs. Jack will be pro by the summer, he just moved back out to SF. And Bobby May be pro in 2 years or less, he is still very young. I have to get some distributers for my DVD, does anyone know any companies???

Hi Mike, I enjoyed your video very much. I agree that a slow zoom in the beginning might be cooler than a quick one. I also would have used a different font for your titles. Overall, I thought the music and pacing were very good as well as the footage that you used.

interesting vid, I like the checkerboard and your riders look good. I would change the Font, It looks unprofessional. Check out http://www.1001freefonts.com , also the zoom on the title was too 2x too fast.

Mike that was great! Aside from all the things the others mentioned I was impressed with the smoothness of the slowmotion. Unless your camera has that ability I would like to know what program you used for the slo mo.

Its called ramped slow motion in AE. It's all using keyframes to build up the speed by whatever % you want. It's the best slowmotion you can find anywhere.
