Films with VX2000 or PD150
Just curious... anyone know which movies, films, documentaries or reality tv were made using VX2000 or PD150?
Documentary: "9/11" was filmed with a PD150 Film Timecode was filmed with a PD150 I know there has to be more... anyone else know of any? I am sure that some of the reality tv shows use one of these two. |
Hi Linda.
I guess itīll do until somebody finds an update:

hi linda, i'm also interested in this question, as i'm thinking of shooting my first feature with a pd170. i'm pretty sure the 150 was used on 'tadpole', 'the anniversary', and a bunch of other features/documentaries. it seems to be quite popular with filmmakers. check out this website www.indigent.net. hope this helps.

Personal Velocity was shot on pd150 and won Best Cinematography at Sundance last year.

I had the same question a few months ago. All of the films that people have mentioned so far were shot with PD150s PAL.
|
I can't remember where I read about this - either some other forum or articles on the 'net indirectly from this forum... but PD150's have been used for most of the news stories coming out of Iraq.
|
I think Pieces of April was shot on a PD150, not entirely sure though.

mtv was using xl1s' and pd150s alot for their shows. Now they are mostly using dvx100a's.

Has anyone seen Tadpole? I caught a few minutes of it on IFC or Sundance Channel, and the picture quality flat-out sucks. I don't know what camera they used, but apparently they have never heard of color correction, de-interlacing, or S-curves. My own work as well as that of many people on this website looks far superior.

"Super Size Me" was filmed using a PD150.

Wow. Lot's of smoke flying around here. Not certain, Linda, if you were making a factual statement, or giving an "example," but:
F911 was shot primarily with a betacam, but footage came from many sources. "Timecode" was shot with multiple DigiBetacams. "Anniversary Party" was shot with two DSR500 PAL cams in native 16x9 "Tadpole" was indeed shot with the PD150, but the original DP quit because they wouldn't spend the time for proper lighting. A number of reviews commented on the poor image quality. The about to be released feature, "Open Water," was shot on a PD150 and VX2K, and looks pretty good in the coming attractions. By good, I mean "intense," like "Jaws." Wayne Orr, SOC |
Hi Wayne...
I think you're right about Timecode... is it possible to have PD150 Betacam? I researched that movie... thought I saw something about PD150 and Betacam too? 9/11 - filmed by Jules and Gedeon Naudet, was done on a PD150. I am certain of this... I did alot of research to find out the type of camera they used. It's how I ended up with my VX2000. |
Wayne... you're right about Time Code (my bad!). I don't know how I thought it was filmed with a PD150. I found this out at this website:
http://www.dvshop.ca/dvcafe/museum/dvmuseum9.html. A good site to find the particulars about various digital films. Particulars being: Format/Camera used. Other PD150's noted, but not listed here are: "Hotel" "Manic" "13 Moons" |
Mea culpa, Linda. I thought you were refering to "Fahrenheit 911." Should have paid closer attention.
|
No prob... I thought you might've been thinkin that. By the way... Timecode is on the tube right now... IFC channel!
